| Open Road Racing Setup? Ok fellas. I have not seen too much info on open road racing suspension set ups. I am interested in doing this next year and thought i would take this year to prep. This will be my first event so i will be regulated in the 125 mph class i believe. My car is a M6 SS, current suspension mods:
-Long T/A w/ tunnel reloc bracket
-SFC's
-adj. PHB
-adj. LCA's & Reloc. brackets
-KYB AGX shocks- (maybe sell for Koni SA's )
-Stock springs (looking at Strano or 1LE springs )
-Stock F&R sways poly endlinks & bushings (Maybe go to strano bars second year)
-10 Spokes w/ Eagle F1's, ditched the offset TTII's as i heard they are bad for sustained high speed handling.
And i would also like to know about safety equipment.
So far I'm thinking:
-6pt. cage
-5-6pt. harnesses
-Helmet

| Good Luck on this venture.
Down load the events tech regulations would be NUMBER 1.
Silver State Classic
Texas Open Road Race
Safety is more important then HP.
Keep that engine, oil, transmission and diff cool. Add lager radiators and oil cooler, transmission and diff coolers.
Safety equipment, roll cage, not roll bar, but a full 8-10 point cage. Race seats, and 6 point harness system in both seats. 6-point cages just not enough.
Fire suppression system, min is a fire extinguisher.
Fire suit. a 3 layer nomex drivers suit, nomex head sock, nomex socks, shoes and current SA2005 full face helmet.
Good Luck |

| Come to Nebraska!! there was an SOM TA out here last year...i think it 295's in the front and 315's in the rear. i would think a strano/koni combo would work well. and it is hot and humid out there, so you'll need great cooling.

| Yeah i have been looking at a:
-BeCool radiator
-Diff cooler
-extra P/S cooler
-maybe a trans cooler (even though i have a M6)
Brakes should be sufficient for the lower classes:
-Fresh rotors
-Hawk pads
-Steel lines
-DOT4 fluid.
Motor will be essentially bolt-ons only. At least for my first event.

Which Hawk Pads ? get some race hawk pads
DTC-70s
DTC-60s
Blacks
or Blues
HPS or HP+ are more like street pads |

| HPS, If need be i can upgrade to a better pad.
Trans cooler? What did you use? How did you route it? Mount? Fan?
Sorry for all the questions, I just wanna do everything right. I am not willing to risk the safety of my co-pilot or myself.

| You may consider going to something like the buttonwillow driving clinic first. Get the feel for everything. Normal road courses don't need any of the stuff you mentioned. Drive, learn, mod when you need to.

| HP+ at a minimum. HPS are too soft.
Used the fill and drain plugs in the trans for the lines.
trans cooler left- oil cooler right
And I agree if you have not been to a High Performance Drivers Event, get to several. some Open road race events wont let ppl come to the event unless they have several High Performance drivers events under their belts even for the 125 mph group |
