I have a March UD pulley on my 99 TA and a small tube and fin cooler (one U bend tube, about 12"x4"x1") and I don't have any issues at all with overheating the PS fluid anymore. I also flushed the system and filled it with Valvoline synthetic fluid (cheap, readily and easily available for me) when I put the cooler on it. I hung the cooler behind the radiator on the left side using some zip ties and wire loom to protect it from rubbing through.
I also had a 96 Z28 and had the same "mods" done to that for the PS system and never had a problem with it boiling over once they were in place.
I guess it might require a little bit more effort at idle in parking lot type manuevers, but with an M6, you are always giving it a little bit of throttle to get going while releasing the clutch anyways so it isn't a problem.
