I don't know the direct answer to your question, but for around $50 I bought a small auto tranny cooler kit from Advance and spliced it in on my M6 car. Had two autox's on it now and its quiet & cool. I would do this vs. using a cooler that is part of the radiator because you don't have to worry about the cars coolant effecting your ps fluid temps. My seperate unit keeps the ps fluid at least 75 degrees cooler than the coolant.

I bought and use something very similar to this

http://www.jegs.com/i/Perma-Cool/771...748651%7C10631

It seemed to be more effective when I was running 275/40/17's, this year I am running 315/35/17 at the corners and I have to burp the PS resevior between runs so it doesn't weep out the cap. Iit has too be doing something, but the 315's make the pump work just a bit harder. Next step will be a Turn One pump and pulley.

Attached is a pic of my setup. Oil cooler on the left, PS cooler on the right.

I have a Turn One pump and it is great.

I stumbled across another company that does the same thing. PSC Motorsports will take your core, completely restore it with all new components and revalve it to your needs for $90.

I had one done for an LS1 applicatin and an LT1 application for customer cars.

Turn around time was less than week.

This will be on my list of things for the off season. I am thinking that a HPDE would only magnify the problem?

Turn One PS pump here too. + Redline. Last August I did a track day at BeaveRun, (3) 20 minute sessions.......mid 90* ambients, high humidity, 275 oil, 210* water, zero problems with steering, If I remember circa '05 TO charged $50 to mod my pump.
