Default 02' Z28 ran 12.97@111.08 (bone stock)

hi, i have a 2002 6-speed Z28. i was the last of my 11 friends to get an F-body. my friends all say i got a factory freak becuase my car does well for having no performance work or parts. we all headed up to Mo-Kan dragstrip a couple of weeks after i got my car and i ran consistant 13.0's all day. after a dozen or so runs i finally ran a 12.97@111.08. i know i just bearly made it, but it was enough for me to drive home with a smile on my face. i am currently working my *** off to make my car payments so i haven't had the cash for performance parts yet, but i'm workin on it.
me and some friends took our cars to the dyno in Springdale,Arkansas two months ago. here is what i put out.
dyno- 325.6rwhp@5,400rpm 339.9rwtq@4,200rpm

It's really good, but having all the free mods done and running on 16" wheels really helps you too..

Nice time I would imagine your powershifting or atleast shifting it good haha. That car might be able to go 12.8's or better with that mph.

Give us some detailed info about your car. Options etc. Did the track you went to have scales and did you weigh it? You also say your car is a stock Z28, but it's got an SS hood in your avatar. Is it an SS? Also, give us some details on your driving style.

The reason I'm asking is I hope to accomplish the same with my stock 01 SS and any pointers would really help.

here is some more info on my run:
60 FT---2.1307
330 FT---5.6657
1/8 ET---8.5009
1000 ET---10.9399
1000 MPH---100.51
1/4 ET---12.9763
1/4 MPH---111.08
i think i could have ran better but i did not launch off the line because i was on bald stock tires. i started off very slow then i hauled ***. it would break the back tires loose when i shifted into 2nd. my biggest problem was that i was gettin really bad wheel hop.

ANSWER to BBQZ28:
details on my car- 2002 z28 ls1 6-speed all stock.
my options: t-tops, chrome 16" factory wheels, black leather interior, factory window tint, power windows, and power locks.
the only thing that i did was shorten my stock shifter and cut off my muffler, but the only thing that did was make it louder. i didnt feel a power gain from the muffler.
sorry, but the track didnt a have scale.

no, my car is not an SS. i bought the SS hood off a wrecked SS camaro 3 months after i went to the dragstrip. i also bought my wheels after i went to the strip.

my driving style is start slow. then after i get rolling traction, i haul *** and shift fast.

get some lower controll arms when you get the money that will help with wheel hop and traction a lot.

Thats a hell of a mph for a stock car. With some better tires you can easily lower your 60 ft. and also lower that ET. Any plans to mod? I'd say start with a lid and some free mods, then head back to the track with your new tires and see what you run.

So your car is no lightweight Z28 with the options it has. You did probably save 30+ pounds by cutting the muffler off. That rwhp is very high for a stock car, but I don't guess it's too high. My old 99Z 4A pulled 295 with just a lid and that was on a mustang dyno.

Here's another tip for you. Next time at the track you can pull the air filter. I ran a 13.03 with the filter in my old simple bolt on 99Z and dropped to a 12.94 just by doing that. Just be careful when driving through some of the pits at the track because of dirt.

Quick Reply: 02' Z28 ran 12.97@111.08 (bone stock)
