recently posted a "for trade" add, looking to swap my Corvette accessories for an F-body setup. A few people pm'd me about it and to be fair I went with the first person that commited to it. Now, I've done business on several forums for several years and I'm happy to say that I've never had one transaction go bad. I have 400+ ebay transactions and 200+ paypal transactions as a seller....not to mention countless offline transactions with no problem. I sent him my vette setup, as we agreed to send all parts at the same time. He got my packages however I did not recive mine until a week later. When the parts finally showed up, it looked like a monkey had packed them. ALL hardware was missing, the crank and power steering pump pully were damaged, and the rest of the stuff looked like hammered 200k mile crap. Alternator and a/c compressor bearings were shot. After I recieved the stuff, he asked for pics, blaming the damage on usps. Then the excuses started, my dad took apart the stuff, my dad packed it, USPS must have lost the hardware, blah blah blah. He also said that he has never had a bad transaction, and prides himself on that. I obliged and went along with it, as I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. The damage looks like someone mishandled the motor, not damage that would happen during shipping. Again, looks like a monkey removed the parts and rubbed them all over his greasy ***.

This deal started shady and ended badly. He had recieved my parts first and emailed me asking why the waterpump wasn't included. He sent me his waterpump along with the other accessories and I had not sent him mine. He was probably trying to get me to send him my vette pump before I recieved his box of crap. I did not think it was necessary to trade the pump, however I told him I would send him one ASAP and apologized for the mixup as it was never mentioned in the swap parts. Came to find out, it is not necessary to swap pumps to run either set of accessories. After I recieved the parts and found the pieces that were damages, he had the ***** to ask me to send him a pump asap because he had to build his car that week. I told him I would be more than happy to send him his pump as soon as I recieved my parts. According to his reply, he had already figured out how much it was going to cost him to either buy a new pump or make things right with me. He offered to get me a crank and power steering pully, but then backed out of that promise as he did not want to buy the parts and have them sent to me....offered me $80 and the names of the people selling those parts. I told him that he should be the one to buy the parts and send them to me, as its not my business to get other parties involved in our mess. 2 weeks go by, no response. I finally send a pm asking him what's up, and tells me he decided to not send the parts, and was "insulted" at my suggestion that he should replace the parts that were damaged. He decided to buy a new pump instead of making things right with me. He starts with the nonsense that "those parts in the pics may not even be mine" and implying I am the one that is trying to cheat him, as he sent "mint condition" parts. then I found this thread:

Basically he sent me parts from a high mile POS motor with a wiped cam.
So, at the very least this guy's view of "mint condition" is seriously askew or he was trying to get over. Either way, noone should do business with this guy. I also blame myself as I should have done my due dilligence. I've been spoiled over the years doing business with good people and let down my guard. Its a good thing to deal with a guy like this every once in awhile, reminds you to keep your guard up. I can also take solice in the fact that this guy doesn't sound bright enough to build a car. He can keep his $80, he sounds like he needs the money more than I do anyway. If by some miracle he does get it running, I hope he thinks of me when he puts it into a wall.

I originally just wanted to swap brackets, until he informed me that would not work, these were all parts I intended to use
parts were from the engine I bought, supposed 40-50k miles, all looked to be perfect minus typical aluminum discoloration and surface rust on the crank pulley, the engine having a bad cam lobe has no effect on front drive accessories, these were the same ones I was going to run until the day we agreed to trade as it would make my alt. clearance better and I could switch to a LH8 oil pan, I removed these parts myself when I did the cam swap and nothing looked out of the ordinary at all...the engine still had the belt on it and all, while I did not play around with the A/C since I had no intention of using it, I do know there was nothing wrong with the alternator...as it was the one I was going to use, this is the first I've heard about there being anything "wrong" with that
"my dad" was never an excuse, I told him from day 1 I was at school and wouldn't be home for a couple weeks but my dad would only take a day or 2 to box up the stuff since he had to mock it all back up to send the correct hardware, I still sent my packages 1 day before he sent my second one (he found out 1 box was too large for the post office to handle)
the "missing" hardware was taped up and put into the box so as to not have loose bolts tumbling around, the only one not sent was the crank pulley bolt as it is supposed to be trash, I later sent that to him at his request...but to be honest that request made me nervous anyway since the only "missing" part he mentioned was the one thing that wasn't sent but that could be a coincidence too I suppose
1 of the packages sent to him was late arriving, for some reason it went to Dallas first while the other went direct to him, I have the tracking numbers to confirm this, and yes they took some time arriving as they were sent parcel post which is the same way my parts were sent to me, I don't know why his moved quicker...but they were sent within 1-2 days of each other
I offered to pay for him to replace the damaged parts anyway, but he became defensive and demanded I pay someone else to ship parts to him, I did not want to become the middle man and risk hearing more possible "missing" or "damaged" parts claims, I've already been through that with a set of "Comp 918" springs I bought from someone on here who bought from someone on here...well turns out they were stock springs in a Comp box I paid $130 for and had to rebuy springs and wasted a bunch of time at the machine shop. no thanks. I offered to pay him instead of even risk that kinda crap.
and yes I was insulted that someone would throw an offer of financial reimbursement back in my face when many people in the same situation would have told him "sorry about your luck" instead of spending time searching salvage yards here for replacements I could send, I even made posts on here trying to find what parts would interchange in case 5.3 parts were the same and located 2 individuals from whom he could purchase parts with the money I offered
my time off work is rare so yeah, since I didn't get a water pump, tensioner, thermostat, or the hardware for those I priced them to find out if the core charge was worth having him waste time sending me a pump in the first place as I wanted to replace it with a new one anyway and only needed a core for mock up and exchange for my new one
once I found out the core was $40 locally and that getting mine back wasn't happening I ordered them as I had to have them to get something accomplished so I wasn't wasting a week off work with no pay that couldn't be rescheduled, had he sent my pump and accepted my money the issue would have ended there...
once monger finally accepted my offer of $80 to pay for parts last week he sent me a paypal address to which I could have sent payment to instantly had I the extra cash on hand instead of having had to order $200+ worth of parts he didn't send me at all...not to mention some personal business prevented me from depositing my latest paycheck, I eluded to this in a message to him but it wasn't clear after rereading it that it would affect how soon I could send that payment and for that I apologize
since then I have been at work for long hours and again dealing with personal business and this is the first time I've been online since, I received 1 other message from him threatening negative feedback and this feedback thread before I could even respond to the other
sorry this is long but I wanted to get all of it in because I will not be returning to this thread so that our disagreement doesn't turn into public bickering (and apparently name calling), anyone who has any questions can feel free to PM me about it, but once again it might several days before I read them since my schedule is crazy at the moment
but long story short I will NEVER ship another item without insurance no matter how well packed it is and all items will be photographed before and during the packing process, but I guess that's hindsight for you
both sides of the story are represented here and people I've dealt with know that all my part descriptions have been accurate and fair and that will not change, the only thing that will change will be the fact all future items will be insured
and to Monger: I am again very sorry that damaged parts were received and neither of us clearly researched the necessary items to be traded beforehand further complicating everything, and if you wish to discuss things further feel free to pm me, but if the types of comments within this thread are what I can expect then its best we just part ways with this as I do not have time for name calling or wishing harm to another person and quite frankly don't want to converse any further with someone who does

funny how quickly you responded to this thread after ignoring me for a couple weeks. Bottom line is you have a mint vette accessory setup, and I have a bunch of junk. Worse yet, you wasted my time. Your lame excuses dont change that fact. I'll chalk it up to lesson learned, however I do hope you think of me whenever something goes wrong with that car.
