Default Be forwarned! 1150 Horsepower LS1 Inside!

Traveled up to Wheel to Wheel today with Mike Brown and Steve Turley. They are putting together a 1996 Formula drag car. Their intended target is the Top Gun class with a 3100 pound weight. I think they will have a good chance.

Here is what I know, and Mike, Steve, and/or Kurt may jump in to add-on:

- Stock LS1 block with 382 stroker (Callies 4" crank and Callies LS1 rods - JE Pistons) - I don't know CR ???
- CNC'd Lingenfelter LS1 heads, o-ringed with 1998 graphite style gaskets (may be LS6 head castings, not sure)
- Precision T-88
- ATI dampener, JWIS chain, Jesel adjustable rockers, Comp duals, hydro cam (specs are )
- LS6 intake, stock throttle body, 160-pound injectors, custom rails with dual feed, Aeromotive FPR, racing plugs
- This is cool too....stock 6.0L truck manifolds with 2.5" hot stainless tubing
- HKS Gate and ATI Race blowoff

- EFI is handled by the new "BIG STUFF" developed by the Meaney brothers and John Meaney was there doing the tuning

The setup made pretty near 1000fwhp with no spring pressure on the gate (about 18-19psi). With a little turning of the screw up to 23psi, it netted 1150fwhp and 1006fwtq. The heads never once lifted and there was no weeping either. Rock solid!

We all felt there was more in the setup, but didn't see any reason to push it any further outside the car. Mike and Steve will work on getting the combo into the car over the next few weeks and try to get some seat-time before the N/S race.

As far as I know, this is the most power and standard LS1 block has made (i.e. not iron and not C5R). "Way to go" to all involved!

Here's a video of the final pull for ya! Please right click and save to you computer so the COFBA server does not get bogged down!

Had to use the "insert" function instead of typing in UBB format I guess

1150fwhp is fine and dandy but, how are they gonna get the A/C compressor in there with that manifold outlet in the way.

Awesome setup guys.

Why does the boost steadily increase? Why don't they run 20 PSI from 4000rpm? Is it just a property of bigass turbos?

Already had about 50+ pulls on the engine dyno Big turbo takes a while to get "lit". Of course, a 5500 stall will help with that

Not sure what John and Kurt meant about the room getting "dirty". Maybe EGR from the exhaust?
