Default Locking gas cap question...

I just bought the GM locking gas cap p/n 22720375, supposedly the replacement of p/n 22660006. It is for the most part identical to the stock non-locking gas cap except for the groove for the tether. The tether just isn't large enough to fit, and if it were, it's too thick to fit in the groove in the cap, at least in mine. How did some of you get the tether to fit? Any pics would be great considering I'm thinking that my cap may not be the same as yours.

Thanks for your help,

Chris

I bought a locking gas cap from the local NAPA store and it works great.
