that just reminded me, we put a alternator on my friends CRX we found in the back of a pickup truck after a rain-storm, thing was so rusted we had to put it in a vise and use vise-grips to get the pulley to spin again, things been in there sence last winter and things hit 7500 many times and still works just fine

Don't ever buy alternators from Advance Auto for an F-Body (at least in East TN). My stock alternator on my '93 went out at about 100k. I went back and forth to Advance six different times (that's right… 6 trips, 6 alternators). They were all AC Delco remans. Finally I gave up and went to the dealer and had my guy put one (AC Delco reman) on from their stock. Never had another problem. Funny thing is, all the AC Delco reman alternators came from the same place. I can only assume that Advance was getting the bottom of the barrel.

Nah, it was going before you showed up. That lil sprint to 7000 while mdblackz28 was datalogging was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Installed another one from AZ today, (free because of lifetime warranty). Everything looked good, so I decided to take her to 6600 RPM on a highway blast with my dad in the car...

Killed another alternator. What the ****?

I would go through and double check all your chassis and engine grounds. Also might be worth changing the battery out or having it tested.

I had a bad spark plug wire before that was arcing that caused me tons of problems until I finally figured out what it was. Would make the dash go crazy, lights dim, dash completely shut off etc.

Thanks for the help Tim, I'll be getting another free alternator tuesday.... I'll check all of my wiring and hopefully I'll be OK. Funny thing is, the charging system was fine before I started running higher R's.
