ive read plenty threads where ppl have high idles after thety install ported tbs..mine didnt have this prob...was i suppose to???

 

what are you idling at right now.. mine is setting just under 1,000

 

maybe the hole is too big for it to idle normal? check the idle screw to make sure the butterfly plate is completely closed. which tb did you get?

 

a ported TB should have no effect on idle rpm... only to do with crispness of throttle response

It will if it was ported incorrectly. Some guys take off too much material around where the blade rests when the throttle is shut. This allows too much air to get around the blade therefore the IAC goes full shut and yet still too much air gets in therefore a high idle results that you can't fix without epoxying the blade hole shut or getting another TB.

 

 

It idles fine...normal, just didnt know if it would idle high at first and then go bakc down to normal in few days or so...

 

well in that case if someone is porting where the blade rest they might as well hand over their tools and be taking out to the back and beaten with the stupid stick... should probably give up ownership too of whatever car they're drivin

you will be fine... you may get a high idle for your pcm to recalibrate if there was a problem with the port job or the tps was altered

 

I know from personal experience I ported one for my T/A (the first time I ever ported a TB) and didn't realize I had gone all the way back to where the blade rests. Needless to say I threw that TB in the trashcan!

 

ouch, you should have recycled,,,, or used the piece to see how far you could go.

Some cars will experience an idle adjustment, does not mean the port is incorrect as stated above, it CAN, but does not always mean that it will happen for that reason. I have seen complete stockers with gaps, sticky points, and other various issues, ect...that going to a PnP'ed unit can cause a re-learning curve to be made.

 

mine stay's @ 800 rpms; same as stock, no issues here.
