Default P1SC with Custom Bracket

It's taken me a few months of parts collection and design work, but I have finally gotten close to having my project done. I have been piecing together my own procharger kit changing out some of the pieces for my own or what I hope will be better.

For cooling instead of getting the procharger supplied fan I went with a Spall 16" Paddle fan - model 30102082. They say it is good for almost 2500 CFM and so far I haven't had any cooling problems.

I designed my own tensioned bracket for an 8 rib belt to run the blower with, which was the fun part of the project. It's spinning my blower to almost 53000 RPM without so much as a twitch. Nice and steady all the way to the top of the run. The boost is a little on the high side though around 9 to 9.5 psi using the ATI 8 rib 7.625" crank pulley and a 3.85" blower pulley. I'm hoping to get a second bracket made for testing on a bigger blower.

I made the J wider so there is more material to hold it and also added another bolt position in the bracket to use the other 3/8" bolt hole on the Procharger. Hopefully this will prevent any flexing issues that people have said about the regular ATI bracket.

I run the belt similar to the SDCE setup except I had a small pulley machined and new standoffs for the bottom post to run the belt back over the top. All told it gives me a huge amount of belt wrap.

What's even better is I can do the belt myself without any "special" tools. A regular 15mm wrench is all that is needed, which barely fits between the tensioner and the power steering pulley. I figured there shouldn't be any reason I can't use the same tools on all my belts.

I used the 8 rib pulley from RevXtreme on the tensioner which is a nice piece. Only thing I had to do was re-press in the bearing using Loctite 620 retaining compound. It was walking off the bearing at first. No big deal the Loctite has held it rock steady ever since. This is nothing against Tracy, he was great to work with and offered to replace the whole thing, but it wasn't that big a deal and easily fixed, since I had the Loctite already for my two custom pulleys for the bracket.

Here's a pic of belt installed. You can see the new LS3 water pump I used to make sure I had plenty of clearance for the belt. The regular LS1 pump looked like the belt would rub.

I finally got it on the dyno for turning Friday night. IAT's were great, tuner said they were around 102* through the baby intercoolers (I'll have to keep my eye out for the 4.5" twins though by summer time.) He kept the tune conservative given the stock bottom end with timing pulled out and fuel between 11.8 - 11.5 on the big end. Tuner says we should go to an SD tune since we're pegging the MAF at around 5500 RPM. He also believes it will cure some drivability issues I've got with surging and the AC on (These have been around since the cam).

Anyway onto the fun part.
So far the car made 546 rwhp/503 tq, under the curve it is making 400 tq at 2900 rpm, and 442 tq at 3500 rpm. Not bad for a baby procharger on a 112 lsa cam.

Here's the dyno graph from the last run we did of the night.

Not sure if the numbers will change much going to an SD tune, but I do hope I can start the car with the AC on or not have to worry about it stalling/hunting all the time when I come to a stop.

I want to thank Tracy at RevXtreme and Bob at EPP. They helped me collect the miscellaneous pieces I was missing for the kit and they were happy to spend time talking to me about the plans and setup even though I wasn't spending lots of money with them. You can't go wrong with either one of these guys.

Looks like a really nice setup, but I've never had flexing issues on my ATI bracket making 14psi and 660RWHP....

I'll believe it, was just going off what I'd read on here so I figured I'd just try and make it as good as possible. I didn't ever want to have to go back and redo it if I ever go bigger.

Speaking of going SD in my first post... is there a direct replacement 2 bar MAP sensor I can put in my intake? Dunno if the ones from the Supercharged W-Bodies would fit or not.

Thanks for your help.

Cool, I'll search around and see if I can get the part number for it. Thank you!

Very nice looking piece.
So far I've gone 900rwhp with the stock J-bracket with no belt problems.Just lucky I guess.

Yes you do. Again (see AFB post) thank you for letting me borrow it. Made getting measurements so much easier.

I did the bracket design and all the CAD drawings, I then took those to a machinist to have then produced either on a CNC mill or a lathe.

I put the whole thing on the car though. Everything from the fuel to the blower and intercoolers and piping, to wiring the fan.

Overall the install wasn't really difficult, just time consuming.
