So, I traded a set of my used lowering springs, for T.A.WS6's used B&M shifter. I wanted cash on top of the springs, so we agreed on $25 bucks, plus the shifter for the springs. The cash barely covered shipping on the springs.

Anyways, i get the shifter, and it felt really funny and loose. I put it in the car, thinking maybe it is like that off of the car; and it is just as bad on the car. In gear, it moves about 2-3 left and right, and down shifting, it doesn't pull out of gear without shaking it to get it to release. I put the Hurst back in just now, and everything is fine. So this shifter is indeed broken, it has WAY too much play in it.

I PMed him yesterday before i really got to drive my car much, and we agreed on him sending me $40. (I thought i could manage to fix it) But after driving it last night, I realized it was worse than i thought, and I can't fix it myself.

So i just sent him a PM a little bit ago, and told him that i do not want any money, but want my springs back, and I will ship him the shifter back. And this is the quick convo:



MOE_TAWS6: Hey man, after driving my car around yesterday, and seeing how bad the shifter really is, i can't keep it, nor fix it myself. I am going to need those springs back, and i will ship this back to you. I am getting ripped off here. I got nothing from this deal. Im sorry. the $40 you were going to send me, is not worth the springs. i can EASILY get $150 for those springs, easily. Unless you want to buy those springs from me, I can ship this back, and you can just pay me for those. let me know if you have any better ideas.

How am I trying to "Rip you off", when all I am saying is I want my springs back, and you can have your wonderful shifter back. No money, just my springs, and you can have this back. It'll be cheaper than the $40 you were going to send me. If you want to act like a hard ***, fine, but a thread is going up showing everyone what just happened here. i have plenty of trader ratings, and lots of people to vouch for me.

Why dont you tell the whole story instead of quoting some messages. First of all we agreed on me paying you 40 bucks, i had spent 15 on shipping plus 25 i had paypaled you first, that makes 80 dollars, you had your springs for about that much shipped. When i told you that it felt weird, i meant that it shifts hard and it feels different than stock. I told you that they have a lifetime warranty from manufature but you dnt want to help solve the situation, i also told you that freight damage could of been an option but then you said forget about it and just paypal me that and this deal is closed. and i explained you that i will do that but until tuesday cuz i dont get paid until the weekend and its a holiday wknd. You were the one that offered to the trade, not me, i would of not done it if i would of known that u were going to be this way. Grow up and men up to your word.

 

Did you not read the top of my post? You paid me $25 on top of the shifter. That covered shipping costs of the springs. But forgetting that, it doesn't matter how much shipping was for the shifter, or the $40 you were going to pay me. That does not make it $80 for the springs; if anything, that would be $65 for a full set of springs.



Regardless, it is broken. I should not have to deal with trying to get this fixed. The warranty B&M offers is only to the original buyer, and you have to have the original receipt. And just because I offered the trade doesn't mean that i get screwed on a deal! And do not tell me to be a man of my word, I have done everything i said I was going to do, including ,making this thread in which you said, "you think i'm scared of a Forum?? really??".

 

How can the shifter be broken? I have a B&M in mine, and I dont really see what could be wrong with it?

 

It has like about 3 inches of play left and right. When the shifter is off the car, I can see at the base of it, where the stick is attached on the actual shifter, and it looks like there is suppose to be a spring on each side of it maybe? It's like a 2" rod, with the stick base attached, and on each side of where it is attached, there is nothing. i can see through the base of the shifter too. (Maybe they are made that way, To where you can see through the bottom) But i know for sure they are not made to feel like this. I will get some pics soon.

 

I dont think you are supposed to see through it. There are no springs either. It sounds like it is missing a bushing or worn out bushing I would say.

 

I just took some pics. A hurst shifter beside the B&M i traded for. (Just to compare) They will be posted in a couple minutes.

 

Now someone please tell me if that looks normal...

 

that doesnt look right to me. I had a B&M and I dont remember it looking that way. I could be wrong.

Yeah, there is supposed to be something in the center. Does that say B&M on it? Mine doesnt look like that. Could be a different model I guess. That's messed up. No way it wasnt like that before you recieved it.

 

Yep. It says B&M on it. So what is there that I can do? He isn't really cooperating, and he thinks I am trying to Rip him off, when All I asked for was my springs back, and he can have his shifter back. I can't really go to paypal and file a complain or anything like that, we traded. So i feel like Im screwed.

Edit: I just sent him a PM, telling him I added pics, and that the shifter is missing a piece from the middle, maybe he'll come around.

 

I'll PM him. Maybe I can get somewhere with him.

I think you need to stop acting childish yourself, MOE_TAWS6 has been fully cooperative. By going out of his way communicating and being patient, while you threating him that he's trying to rip you off...
