Direct Filter for D1SC
I am running a D1SC blower on my 4th gen. TA with a front mount intercooler. I was about to use the 4" truck inlet hat with the big 4"x9" K&N filter. My piping is in the way so the filter would basically have to hang below the front bumper to work so obviously this isn't the way to go. I saw that EPP used a 4" 90º intake elbow to make that filter work on one of their FMIC cars, but they told me that they had trouble with it falling off and the clamp trashed the blower.
I guess my last option is to find a filter that will fit directly onto the blower itself and be able to clear the space between the blower and the radiator. Has anyone else done this, and if so, can you provide a part #. I am going do try everything I can not to have to use the weak and restrictive stock piece from Procharger.

I tried to get one directly on the blower yesterday. 3.5" diameter, and 3" tall, it was too tall and wouldn't fit. However, I do have a Howe 2 core rad and the a/c condenser, I bet it would fit standing up for sure, or maybe with a stock style rad.

I am running a FMIC too, but I have no problems fitting the truck inlet hat on mine.

This is what I did, gained almost 2#'s of boost.
Stock filter on the right new one on the left. http://mycarpics.shutterfly.com/276
Heres a link to that filter. http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RF-1045
Small filter on bypass return hole. http://mycarpics.shutterfly.com/277 http://mycarpics.shutterfly.com/278

I tried to fit the truck tube from epp too and couldn't get it to fit with the twin coolers.

Looks good I forgot to say something to you when I sold you that but I would do something to support the end of the inlet. I boosted a charge tube off one and it hit the inlet knocking it off and I ran over it and destroyed it. sucked having to buy a second one.
What is the part # or where did u get it and what brand?

" LOL.. Yea, I actually did secure it with zip ties to some structure there by where the filter is. I've ran over piping before too and learned my lesson the hard way before as well
https://ls1tech.com/forums/8613958-post72.html (the one that was black in that first picture blew off a couple times actually, last time it blew off was when I ran over it, and then decided that I needed to redesign it) Yeah live and learn. I haven't run over any charge pipes yet but I destroyed a $150 truck hat and $40 filter that really pissed me off.
Bcause of the piping I am using, my blower casing is actually on in reverse and the outlet to the pipes comes out toward the driver side, not the passanger as with most others. What is happening is that the big truck inlet must go down really far in order to clear the pipe so the filter sits way too low.
Considering my situation with clearance, this seems to be the most practical solution since the standard hat and filter did fit this setup before.
Questions:
-What is that metal adapter I see on the new filter in the picture? Do I need to buy/make one for it to work?
-Do I have to run the angled PVC pipe to fit the small filter on the hat or can I simply attach it directly to the small tube on the hat?

I will have to get some pics Tomorrow of mine since That is what I did. I ran the outlet of the procharger to the drivers side. I am using the stock hat with a small breather filter in the bypass opening have a large filter attached right to the end of the hat. Also note I did aim the outlet of the procharger down a little and put a 45 in the intercooler pipe right away to give more room for the hat. I will try and post pics over the weekend.

Man, you need to relocate your cruise control module! I'm sure that would clear up a lot of room for you. I almost ran my blower tubing that direction too. Here are a few of my initial mock-up pics. You can see how much of a difference the relocated cruise control makes.

Get rid of that hat all together. I helped do a motor for a guy, and we dynoed it last week and picked up 110rwhp by getting rid of that restrictive pos. Were in the process of fabing something now.
Yeah you need to relocate the cruise. I have a relocation bracket that has the AIR pump relocation part cut off that I can sell for $30 shipped. I am sure that EPP sells them also.
Here are some pictures of how mine is done.
