Default Yank SS4000 4L60E converter (LS1)

Category: Drivetrain
Price: $500
Location (State): FL
Item Condition: Used

SOLD

I ran this converter in my car for about 10k miles. When my 4L60E went out, I switched to a TH350. I haven't torn down the tranny yet to diagnose the failure, but the trans did overheat so I sent the converter to Yank to be refreshed.

Specs: LS1/4L60E, 4000 stall, 2.6 STR

This converter is currently at Yank and will be there until at least Monday. If it it purchased while it's at Yank, the price will be $500 shipped directly from Yank

If Yank has to ship it back to me, I'll have to charge shipping to whoever buys it (it cost me $50 to ship it to Yank!)

i dont know much about YANK's refreshing so would everything be ok with it when they are done? Also does the overheating effect the convertors durability or operation? I am very interested and would i also be able to verify with YANK that the convertor is there and would be shipped to me and is in working condition?

As mentioned, it is a single disc. I didn't drive it much on the street (or much at at all for that matter, about 10k miles in about 4 years). The street manners were tolerable, even though the engine didn't have much for street manners. I would say that for torque converters with stalls up to around 3600, it's different, but no less streetable. When you get into the 4000 stall range, you lose a little bit of the streetability, but it's still very driveable. Also the SS line is made to be street driven (unlike the PT line) so it's really not too bad with some tuning help.

It should be good to go. If there's any damage in it, I'll have it repaired to like-new operation, within reason, of course. I budgeted about $200 for the refresh, so if it costs me any more than that, I'll have to adjust my $500 price. I should get a call from Yank on Monday after they cut it open. From there I'll work with whatever they recommend. After that I'm sure they wouldn't mind answering any questions you have.

I just heard from Dave at Yank. The converter is ready to go. They had to replace the clutch in it, and being that this converter is about 5 years old, it's a clutch style that they don't use anymore. They did have an old-style clutch in the shop though, so they used that and put it back together with no other issues. It's ready to ship out, so I'm not going to ask them to sit on it. If it's not sold by tomorrow afternoon, it will come back to me and I'll have to add shipping to the sale price.

Yes, it's an older converter, but I only put about 10k miles on it and it's been freshly rebuilt by Yank!

I can't believe this hadn't sold. If I had $500 on me I'd buy it just to keep incase I ever needed it for something.

Nor can I.. I thought I was giving it away at $500. I've had a couple of offers for less, but I'm firm on my price. I've put $300 into the rebuild. For any less than my asking price, I'll put it back on top of my tool box where it's been for the last year.

Dave at Yank is helping me out and hanging on to the converter until Monday. So I have the rest of the week to find a buyer for this.

Night bump.
