Question Firebird specific: how do I remove this part to paint it?

I am tired of looking at this part the way it is, how do I remove it so I can paint it or make it look better some how, I just remove the 3 clips, 2 bolts, and 4 nuts to remove it? Once all of that is undone will it just come out without needing Houdini?

I painted mine in the car. Just taped everything off, but you can see the tape lines if you look hard enough. I need to take it off and do it the right way. Does look WAY better tho.

Yeah...just take the 4 bolts behind the headlight brackets off...the two in the middle and the three clips and you can wiggle it out. There is nothing to it.

If you want an extra one to do to keep your "stock" in case you ever want to go back (thats what I did), I have an extra one I will sell for $40 shipped.

Here is a pic of mine:

Last Question: Do you need Plastic type paint like Krylon Fusion or any regular rattle can spray after proper prep work?

I used regular paint. Be careful putting it back in though, my bumper scratched the finish as I was putting it back in, so I had to take it out again and fix it.

I sanded all the molding edges and and smoothed everything up before painting it. 320 grit works good. Even the edges got a good clean-up. I did all the steps: primer, wet sanding, color (to match car), clear, wet sanding and buffing. Looks like the factory did it! It's a great touch to go along with painting your black headlight bezel.
