Want to quite down your interior noise?
I installed the Frost King duct insulation in my car today. I ended up using 5 rolls. Took me about an hour to get the entire interior out, 2 hours to lay the insulation and about an hour putting the interior back in. I preped the floorpan by vaccuming it and then wiping it with an amonia free cleaner. Pulled up all the wiring I could then started laying it from the front to back, including the sides and the fender wells. The insulation sticks and conforms easily to the metal. The interior NOISE is significantly reduced. I have dumps before the axle so you can imagine how loud it is inside. On a scale of 1-10 the noise before was a 10 now I would say it is 5 or 6. The gear whine is quiter and you can't hear the rocks hitting the fenderwells as much. MUCH more enjoyable to drive now. Wish I would of done this a long time ago.

I spent about $75 total. You can get the insullation at Lowes, its near the water heaters. Thanks Levi for recommending this. I guess my A/C and heater should be more efficent also now.
Peace,
Justin

Each roll is only about 3lbs! So I only added 15lbs to the car.

Re: Want to quite down your interior noise?
I went down to Lowe's a few days ago to buy this stuff, and they don't carry it! NO frost king stuff anywhere!
Neither did Home Depot or OSH. I want to do this but it doesn't look good. Are there any alternatives to this product? I found some but they were'nt self-adhesive.

I used roof liner. It is also located at LOWES. I think it is a little heavier but, it works really well. It is almost same thing as other products such as dynama.

I just finished doing the same thing yesterday using the same stuff. It really quieted the car down. I even stuffed some pink insulation in the gap behind the speakers. I can't hear rocks hitting the inside of the quarter panel anymore and it only cost me $50. It made the car even more enjoyable now.

If so, does it smell like tar?
I had bought one of those products, and it smelled like tar, but i forgot the name, it was black, w/ a white plastic backing.

Looks like NASA got a hold of your car
I dynamatted the critical areas, might fill in the rest with this stuff.

Re: Want to quite down your interior noise?
How difficult is it to pull everything out and put back in? In terms of finding the holes where things are supposed to screw back in and such?
Thanks

NASA, LOL!
I've pulled my complete interior out about 4 or 5 times so I can do it quick. There is nothing to it. The coat clips that hold the sail panels in are sometimes a struggle to get out. You will need a torx bit ( forget the size ) to take the seatbelts latches out. As you are laying it cut the holes out, you can push in on it and feel where they are. All the studs and such that stick up, just press over them and they will bust through. Wear a good pair of gloves too, the foil will cut you. A sharp razor is needed, obviously, to trim around the edges. I would probably charge about $100 plus materials to install it if anyone is interested.

Re: Want to quite down your interior noise?
Very interesting Mod. I never would have thought of doing this. My girl friend thinks I have lost my mind already because I spend so much time (& money) on my car. I think if I do this and I probably will, she may be right.

Re: Want to quite down your interior noise?
Looks like I have a new project for next week -- ive been wanting to do Dyonmat or something similar but high costs and weight issues have made it easy for me to put it off.. now I have no excuse. My wife will have to think of a creative way to thank me for quieting down the interior
Good Job!!

Did you install this over the factory material? pull out the factory material then install this and put the factory material back? Or did you toss the factory material?
Thanks

Re: Want to quite down your interior noise?
I left the factory insulation on the back of the carpet, removed the blanket over the transmission, layed the new stuff down then put the blanket and carpet back over it. You really need a 2 layers on the tunnel, rear seat area, and fenderwells. And I suppose if your catback exits out the rear like a normal person then 2 layers in the trunk. A layer on the firewall wouldn't hurt either.
