Default Changing from 10W-30 to 5W-30 ?? Opinions?

So what do you guys think, im thinking about changing to 5w-30 full syntehtic.
Ive used 10w-30 full synthetic since it was new.

I can seem to find anything , so im looking for opinions. Does it free up a little power?

I don't know if it frees up HP but it is quicker to move through the engine at startup to better coat on initial startup. I run Royal Purple 5-30 and don't have any issues.

the 5-30 is thinner than the 10-30 so it moves more freely, probably won't free up power. 5-30 is for places that get below a certain temp, look in ur book.

5w30 and 10w30 are almost the same thickness oils once operating temperature is reached. No worries. It's better in the winter, too.

I'm using Mobil 1 0w30 synthetic oil. My car came standard with Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic. I talked to a friend of mine that is a engineer for GM in Detroit. He ran several dyno test's and Mobil 1 0w30 synthetic produced the most horsepower gain. He also has an NHRA Super Stock drag car.

Also using 5w-30 Mobil-1 full synthetic, don't know if it helped, but the oil change intervals for me were the nicest deal

Search for posts by Patman.

He recommends German Castrol 5w30 or Mobil 5W40 if you want something local. He is the guru on oil....period.

I've used Mobil 1 5w30 since the 'bird was brand new from advice from my local auto dealership. Over 115,700 miles on the car now with no problems.
