Default i got killed by a 4 cyl :(

last night me and my good buddy were cruising home from a friends house. all of a sudden we hear vroooom psssst. a 80's galant was revving his engine. i said to my friend, why not? we rolled from about 40 - 50 mph. i was in 4th gear (i know i probably shouldve been in 3rd.) anyway he pulled on me from the get go.and he had me by about 2 - 3 car lengths.

then we did about a 30 mph roll. he said lets go from 2nd gear. we did and i was even with him until the top of 2nd for me then he pulled away.

all he had was a small turbo (what he said) and a 4 cyl.

should i have lost? i have a bone stock WS6, with a slipping clutch (114k on the clutch)

Well nice death, if it had enough work done to it that yet it's not supprising. And you being stock and a slipping clutch doesn't help.

A friend if mine has a Talon that he thinks is the greatest thing since cotton candy. As far as being the strongest arent 4G63s aluminum?? I am sure there is one that is tronger than that one. As a matter of fact there is a video of a guy in a Talon or Eclipse, both have 4G63s in them, racing a BMW and his block disintegrates about 10 seconds in. So I guess they arent as strong as he thinks.

40-50 you shoulda dropped to 2nd. i'll NEVER run from 40, that seems to be the dead zone of my car. and from 30 you shoulda rev matched it into 1st and checked out.

second gear in a car like his comes on alot sooner than second does in ours.

isn't that pretty close to redline? i've tried rev matching before but i decided to learn it after i got my new clutch

edit: also this was my first street race. i was thinking...the way i raced, i had it in gear, but i had the clutch pedal pushed down to the floor. should i have had it in gear with the clutch out?

i really try not to let the tach get too close to the yellow line because of my higher miles...it freaks me out that i'm going to blow something

no, its an iron block.
Im sure that if i searched the net, i could find a video of just about ANY car making its engine disintegrate. When you run high boost for a long time and you race it very often, things break. What person that calls themselves an automotive enthusiast doesnt know that?

OMG did you see that video of the z06 blowing its motor? What a POS.

If you can find a 4 cyl motor that holds up to boost better than the 4g63t then be my guest and find one.

SR20DET.. 4G63t are plagued with crank walk.

For imports, I must say I like Nissan better than any other.

The 7-bolt 4g63s had issues with crank walk. The 6-bolts are just fine.

It was no driver error. He got smacked by a Galant VR-4.
