Default Anyone ever put shiftlight here?

Did this a few weeks ago...what a PITA getting it in there. I thought about putting it in the driver's defrost vent to the left of the headlight switch, but then I thought about wanting it in a more central location, also if I don't want to look at it if it comes on, I can just close the vent.

That looks like an awesome place for it. Shame I don't have that third air duct to do that.

I saw someone put a shift light in the bottom right corner of the guage pod once, can't remember who did it, but it was right where the Skip Shift light would be. I need to find that again that was sweet.

Here's a video of what it looks like in the center vents. Perfect location if you want a stock look

There were 2 PITA's....one was getting the bracket attached to the bottom of the duct work inside the dash...and the other was getting the vents out w/o breaking them, which I did on one of them and had to fork out $17 for a new one.

The easiest way I found to get the dash vents out, is to use a pick shaped like a "S" with a 45* end. Snap-On makes one that I was using. You have to get in behind the edges of each flap on the left and right and pry it outward. After you have done that, you can get your fingers in there to pull the bezel out.

I really was stumped when trying to figure out how to get a hole in the bottom part of the duct work. So I just grabbed my 90* pick, and pushed til it went through. I then just moved it around enough to make the hole big enough so I could fit my small screw up through it.

I held the mounting bracket with one hand with the nut, and put the screw up through the bottom and tightened it up...this part was very tricky. Of course I had to remove the radio to do this.

For the wiring, I just took my drill and 1" spade bit, put it thru the radio pod, and drilled into the back part of the duct work. I fed my shift light up thru the hole and then ran my wiring to my PCM. I got power and ground from my radio, and then ran the signal wire to the PCM through the well known "grommet" in the firewall.

With pulling the PCM to get to the grommet, to pulling the radio, getting the vents out, and getting the bracket mounted....from start to finish, it took me maybe 2 hours.

I just did a harlan in the vent of my Z28. Things I did different than the installuniversity guide; there is a perfect ground of the front of the radio which made it very easy & I pulled power from a pink wire on the ASR/TCS button. It was a VERY easy install on the camaro.

Mine is in the vent as well. Took about 30 minutes to install it all

Most of the time was spent on feeding it through the gromet in the firewall.

So, I agree that the Camaro was a lot easier to work with.

Took me less than a hour.
I used some good double sided tape to hold the bracket for the light in the vent area. Had the light in and out many times. I did not pull the ECM. I cut about 2-3 feet of mechanics wire, put a small hook on one end, tied the tach wire to it, poked the wire through the gromet and pushed it up till I could reach it from under the hood and then pulled the wire through.

That's where I had Eastside wire mine up. Trick looking spot, I like it there.
