Using C5 Vette suspension. How do I get all the factory pickups to retain geometry.
I am building a tube frame car using C5 suspension parts. Where should i go to find alll the stock pickup points and angles to use. Is there a book or anything. The only way i know how is to find someone who will let me borrow their vette, and simply measure all the specs I need.

I purchased some factory frame rails for mock up/ jig purposes. My chassis is done and I still have the frame rails if you are interested, and would like to purchase them.
Here is a pic of how we did it:
And here are the frame rails sitting out back of the shop:
They were close to $3200 new, I'll sell them for $1500 plus shipping.

You should be able to find the dimensions you need in a Mitchell chassis alignment guide. There's a frame shop here that let's me use the books whenever I want...you may be able to do the same with a local shop. I took a laptop PC and a portable scanner with me last time to get all the C4 dimensions I needed for my Merc project.

Thanks, but even if you have the frame rails you will not be able to get the upper a-arms in the correct positions without knowing what angles they are supposed to be at.

What are you talking about? They BOLT to the frame. It doesn't get more accurate than that. The angle of the suspension at ride height is when the lower control arm is level with the ground.
The first pic shows them dangling in the air, but we hadn't bolted them up yet. The pic of my car on the rack clearly shows the front control arms bolted to the frame. What eles do you think you need here?

I would be very interested in seeing your frame after it was constructed. The C5 frame rails are really wide, I assume that they are too wide for your car. I have a 35 Chevy for which I am building a C5-based chassis, I have some leeway on the width but not that much. Are you using this jig to construct other frames?

It's not that the factory rails are too wide, just not long enough. We had to lengthen the tube by 3-1/2" to get it all lined up.
My chassis looks like this:
The car is done with the body kit, and we are making new progress finally.
The chassis jig was destroyed after my car was constructed. Wayne Due built the chassis, and also has done a 40 Merc with a C5 chassis/Transaxle setup. He might be right up your alley.
Anytime you come to Vegas, you can stop by the shop and poke around the car..

Great photos, thanks! I too am looking at lengthening the chassis, mine will need to go out to a 112" wheelbase. I am not sure where the engine will sit though so I can't assume that the torque tube will stretch as far as the frame. It looks like your uni-body construction was replaced by a frame, the car should be a lot stiffer and handle much better now. The sheetmetal work is awesome, any time a car looks that good from the underside is a good indication of the overall quality of the whole job. Looks like a trip to Vegas is definitely in the plans for summer! Thanks...

My HRE wheels stay in the boxes until we are ready to drive the thing. They are a wee bit expensive to use as rollers.
