Question 6-speed transmission corvette C5 - Camaro LS1 the same?

Hello,

my name is Jens and i´m coming from germany.
I have a Camaro LS1, modell 2000 with 6 speed manuel transmission. My question is:
is the 6 speed from the Corvette C5 the same like from camaro / trans am LS1?

Guten Morgen!

The T56 trans in both platforms is made by the same original equipment mfg but they have some key differences.

The C5 has two versions, one generally reserved for the Z06 and one for the general purpose app. Gear ratios are different, may be other changes also.

The T56 is used in a transaxle assembly for the C5, whereas on the F-Body its just aft of the engine. This means the input shaft is definitely not interchangeable between the two, possibly the output shaft as well.

wow, that was a fast answer, thank you. The transmission is coming from a corvette C5 LS1, not Z06. Here is a picture:

Jens,

The C5 transmision is not a direct replacement for the T56 that is in your Camaro.
