Default VETTE dyno #s vs. F-BODY dyno #s

Why is there such a big difference in Dyo numbers between the two?

doesnt the Vette (non-ZO6) have a higher HP/TQ rating, in Stock form, than an F-Body? For example, a 99 Vette and a 99 SS.

the F-Bodys seem to dyno A LOT higher than Vettes when comparing Stock numbers, and when comparing similar mods.

Ok, lets not get into this conversation yet again...

And neither is that much higher then the other. The Fbodys are typically right next to their Y body bretheran in the dyno #s. And for why, most ppl say its the fact the solid axle helps the Fcar out. Others just say the IRS is loose on the Vette and thats where the loss is.

All depends on who you talk to

GM just didn't want to admit to the fact their muscle car was making just as much power as their flagship sports car....that happens to cost almost twice as much. That is all.

I own both and the dynos seem to be pretty close, with maybe a 5-10rwhp at most difference when totally stock on average?

As far as the advertised HP numbers, thats just marketing.

No one got jipped.. The same day I dyno'd my O1 Camaro SS a 01 C5 was right behind me.. I dyno'd 318rwhp/329rwtq stock.. The C5 dyno'd 320rwhp/327rwtq stock.. Same engine.. The C5 has the advantage secondary to less weight..

My C5 pulled 315HP stock. This is a flame war waiting to happen But over all i see typically the same numbers usually, but dyno numbers are like stickers to me. Its what it does at the track that impresses me. But i tell you this. My 00 Z28's parts where alot cheaper thats for sure.

Do not get me wrong.. I like my SS, but if I could do it over again.. I would have purchased a 99 Hardtop.. Weight is what is killing me.. Being 280lbs plus only makes it more difficult to get my SS to run acceptable times.. Even though I can care less about times. I am more concerned with mph..

corvettes rule.my 00 coupe with 2.73's beat up on stock f-body cars all the time at the track. hp v.s. weight is the key. corvettes are are a much better car. just look at f-body resale.do they still make those things?????

Hate to burst your bubble, but Corvette resale aint all that high either. C5s are still raking in some decent dinero, but check out some of the C4 and definatly later C3 cars. They go for really cheap. Hell, my dads had his 91 since new, and its got roughly 63k on it. FX3 suspension, A4, fairly rare color, and it'd be lucky to fetch 10k for it. (imo, its worth closer to 15k, but i doubt someone would pay that much for it).

And check back in 20 years, and the Corvette resale might be higher, but low-milage Fbodys will pull some good $$$$ from "collectors". I love Corvettes to death. Im probably one of the biggest Corvette fanatics you will find under 20 years old, but the Fbody isnt bad in any respects...esp being 10-15k cheaper and still keepin up w/ their big brother

hp numbers are cool cuz i own a camaro, but if i could i'd get the Corvette any day. that's my goal...either a used Vette or a Cobra with that awesome, superpowered engine

Both cars might pull the same numbers on a dyno and run the same times in straight-line performance, but the C5 will easily outshine an f-body everywhere else. A lot of guys have upgraded to a C5 from an LS1 f-body and haven't looked back. Obviously there's a reason for it. I'm hoping to finally get a
used 01 C5 this year, and I can't wait.

I hate to say it but I would say my WS6 gets more looks than C5's any day.

I'm not saying the ws6 is better, I'm just saying that it has better looks with the aggressive hood and everything else.
