You should see the look on ppls faces when a peformance car fuels up at the E85 alternative fuels pump and his bill is less than the grocery getters... Then when you explain to them that you did all the modifications yourself and that ethanol actually performs better than gas on turbocharged engines.... "Holy sh*t that is smart"....
I also loved explaining it to the stock GTO or the stock 911 turbo.... After they catch up of course.... Empty HWY....
You guys should try it..
1. Bigger fuel injectors.. About 1.66X larger than what you need for gas. Preferably a bosch alcohol injector.. Like the 160lb.. I got some from a CNG crown vic.
2. Bigger pump.. I have never had a pump failure running it. All newer cars are designed for oxygenated fuels. ETHANOL is the typical oxygenator. METHANOl is a horse of a different color and will eat anything that is'nt viton etc..
3. Bigger regulator to match flow rate of pump. Matching fuel filter etc.
4. ESP if not run often often have a aluminum fuel rail... Steel is ok.. jet hot coated inside...
Aftermarket PCM will probably be needed...
Althought with DSM's I have got one to run with just a MAFT.

I was gonna say, with the GM OBD II PCM, you'd need to do either a mega squirt conversion or the aftermarket PCM in order to run those 160#ers, as I do not think that anyone is making a Hi Z in that flow.
That is a great alternative and something I might look into in the future. As far as the tune, have you noticed any difference? Pickups in horsepower, lower EGTs and IATs? Noticed an increase in efficiency?

I have E85 in my area and have considered trying to run in in my 01 z-28, I still have stock compression but have a lid pacesetters and a catback with a B1 MTI cam. I am self tuned with HP tuners. Has anyone tried to tune for E85? I come from a long line of farmers and would love to give it a try.

Anyway.. Alcohol + Turbo at high boost =
Its like going from 93 oct to race gas with a intercooler over 100% efficient (iced).... It sure picks up where my FMIC left off.

I dont have an EGT gauge on anymore... Its tapped on #1 exhaust runner. I just run a wb 02 sensor...
You obviously need to be ~1.66x richer across the board but on cold start and cold idle you need to be a bit fatter than the stoich for it than gas is compared to its.. Basically more cold enrichment. When hot you can idle and cruise a good bit leaner than E85's optimum as compaired to idle/cruise on gas is from its stoich ratio..
Tuning for power is less like running on a razor edge (gas) but a hockey skate (Ethanol)... The penalties of being a teeny bit rich are'nt as bad as is a tiny bit lean.. I squirt on the fat side a teeny bit on purpose.. The fine line balance of A/F and timing is a wider line...
After the initial fuel setup I looked at knock and the timing map.. Knock had pretty much disappeared... I usually look for a handfull of knock counts or so then back off untill I only get sporatic knock counts.. I had to get more aggressive with timing on it too..
