Default Race-Prep looking to deliver 500ci to a lucky first customer!

Race-Prep announces the arrival of the largest displacement LS(X) engine on the planet! With the capability of producing up to 500ci displacement, this engine will be capable of DOMINATING the competition. Based on the extrordinary sucess of our previous 445ci builds, Power figures can be expected to be in the 700+HP range for a pump gas setup and the sky is the limit for a racing style engine, preliminary estimates put the race engine in the 850+HP range. The engine is modified for the displacement by ERL Performance, a very reputable and reliable designer and builder of deck plate systems and components. All parts are CAD designed and computer engineered to be reliable and provide many many thousands of miles of service in your street or race car. Race Prep is offering to its customers and the public a chance to be the first to obtain this level of performance from a streetable powerplant like this. We have been granted a distributorship from ERL based on our outstanding customer service and production of only the finest engines over the past four years. Race-Prep is very proud to be in this small number of companies selected as distributors by ERL as they hand picked only the best and most trustworthy companies in the LS(X) industry. The proposed engine build would consist of a "no holds barred" type of build where Race-Prep would be allowed full reign of the project (consulting with the customer of course) to achieve a level of performance never before produced by an LS(X) engine. Race-Prep assures the chosen customer the utmost power production for the application along with supreme streetability if chosen for a street car. If you want to get in on this, please call Race-Prep for details @ 760-200-5155 or E-mail us at raceprepinc@aol.com. We are anxious to start this project and be the first to deliver the awesome power of 500ci of LS(X)!!

With its five-inch stroke it will have tugboat-like torque. What about an intake manifold?

Actually , it is a 4.5" stroke but yes, it should make more than 500FTLBS nearly off idle! Our past experience shows the 445 versions we have done make over 610FTLBS and over 500FTLBS at 2800RPM. Plenty of torque to get ya moving!

The block is more than that, it comes with the custom Billet crank, Carillo rods, and custom Wiseco forged pistons. We are confident we can keep it reasonable, including the custom made headers and other goodies to make everything work together. If you are interested, please give us a call for pricing Info.

Bryan, just curious, is this going to be a sheetmetal intake setup? Any other details for us that are just purely curious?

I also seen this set-up at SEMA. It looked like they also sell a spacer that bolts to the intake side of the head, so I think you could run a normal intake manifold.

The deck height is 10.200" vs 9.235" which allows for a longer stroke with a still optimum rod to stroke ratio and a beefy piston for long life and better ring stability.

10.2" deck. Tons of options. Could go to stroke of 4.750" or so with that
and have halfway reasonable rod ratio...

Maybe I'm being a nancy boy here, but the thing that concerns me with the 500" piece is that if it uses a 4.5" stroke, that means that it's using a 4.2" bore... just seems awfully thin to me, but I'm sure that the folks at ERL and Race-Prep have a WHOLE lot more experience with this stuff than I do.

Out of curiosity, is the block an all-new casting, or a modified C5R (or something) piece??

All of that being said, @ 10.2" deck height!!!

Yeah, We thought of that also, it really only takes a very small notch for clearance too, even for the 4.5" stroke thanks to Carrillo! I really think you might be able to get even more from this beast! 4.75"= 526!!!!!! but I think the limiting factor was the cam location, any more stroke and you literally HIT the cam with the rod! LOL!

the cam clearance is the first thing that went into my mind then remembered that the Gen3/4 motors have a raised cam location. Since they also have a 55mm journal, then I guess a small base circle version would be close to a stock Gen1/2 SBC. And if you need more room then you can go even smaller...

Are you using the Darton big bore sleeves that were introduced last year? Their display at PRI said they were good up to 4.200" bore.

Tad said that Jud is also getting this stuff
