Default LS1 Ford Capri starts!!

At last. Finally started the car after 2yrs of interuptions.(House-move, 4yr old son who likes to help Daddy do everthing etc etc!).
Initially didn`t have spark at plugs but earthing the neutral safety wire(Tremec TKO trans) sorted that out. Then I couldn`t get the petrol pump to supply fuel to the rail. Looked at all the pipework connections and they turned out ok so rechecked the fuel pump. Turns out I wired it backwards and it was trying to pump petrol back in the tank........
Anyway solved that problem, disconnected plugs and coils etc and oil pressure came up after about 30seconds cranking. I then connected everything back up and turned the key.....bingo! It went to a fast idle initially and then settled down to a perfect motionless smooth idle which is far smoother than my previous old style small block Chevy. It is super smooth when revved and makes the whole project come alive again.
Many nights have been spent looking through this web site and ....well.... I couldn`t have done it without you all........
Thanks! Robert

I would love to see some pics. What year Capri?

A friend in high school had a '76 Capri with a 327ci Chevy that was incredibly fast.

That is the car my pal had. Hope you have some sticky tires out back and LSD. You will need it.

What do you imagine the car will weigh?

I`ve got a Ford 8.8" traction lock diff. When I ran with my other engine, a 350ci s/b Chevy, I put it over the weighbridge at work and it weighed 1350kgs (2976lbs). In full street trim, complete interior, spare tyre and on normal tyres its best time was 12.08/108 over 1/4 mile.
This time it may be slightly lighter....100lbs maybe?

Getting there champ, I had the same problem with the oil pressure taking its time to build, after all the $$ and time spent you **** yourself thinking theres no pressure and will the engine blow and then you get pressure, man what a relief when its there.

Well done
