Default I'm back... Kind of...

Hey everyone... Finally picked up the new ride!

2001 Corvette Z06

I'm in Dallas right now, just got some new meats on front, and will be driving back to ATL tomorrow. All she needs is some detailing, and it'll be pristine! Work's still kickin my ***, but I'll definately try to come around more often...

Nice wheels! I wonder how long it'll take for the mods to begin?

ARE you going to mod it? I kind of wish I supercharged mine from the start instead of the motor mods. I can't wait to get "blown."

Being an 01 do you know if the car has been re-ringed yet? How many miles are on it? I know from the corvetteforum.com and z06vette.com that almost EVERY 01 Z06 in there drinks oil like it's going out of style unless they've had it re-ringed by the dealer.

The Z06 is stupid fast bone stock! They can easily be ran into the high 11's with just drag radials.

I checked the service history on the car, and its clean. The owner took it in for both recalls on it, but not a re-ring, never had any problems. I've read a lot about the '01 Oil Chuggers' at Corvette Forum also, and with owners of 01 Z's, and it seemed like it was a percentage of the ones built that needed the re-ring. There are GM articles, and all sorts of things about it, they stated that it should consume 1 to 1.5 quarts per 1000 miles. Given my driving around yesterday, and the 830 miles drive home today, everything is perfect.

And for everyone else, thanks!!!

Time to change your sig Dre! And how many miles are on this car anyways? Must have been a hell of a deal to drive out to Texas to pick it up!

49K lady-driven miles. Bought it off the divorcee, who had gotten the car out of the divorce. 100% Stock, even has CAGS still on it!

Not all oil consumption problems were caused by the piston rings in the 2001 cars. Many had the PVC chaged out and had no problems with oil consumption. Some did use oil and some didn't. GM says that if you use a quart in 1500 miles it is normal consumption.
