My home made setup. Made from 2.5" tubing and a couple Sweet thunder mufflers. H pipe setup and its not quite done as I want to tuck the mufflers up more, put some turndowns on or possibly run it over the axle but I'm running it like this for now.

Installed on the car.

Not bad welding for the First Exhaust system I've ever done and only the 2nd project using my month old welder.

I thought about going 3" but a stock heads and cam car really doesn't need dual 3" and in the future I can just weld up a 3" setup as another project anyhow.

Adding one more pic.. a side view showing how tucked up I made the TD exhaust setup. I cna go low without worry!

Default custom $250 true duals

heres mine only cost $250 to run the exhaust i supplied the mufflers i told them to go above the torque arm bracket on the passanger side cause my lc1 wiring runs on that side and i didnt want it to burn thru the wiring, i had to use a h-pipe instead of the x that i wanted, this exhaust tucks better than the old y-pipe i had.

Congrats. That's a killer looking setup! It's a good thing you went with the relocation kit from the beginning. I have one now too, but I should have done it in the first place.

Anyone want to help me out? And I have a shop in mind and the only td setup they have is the flowmaster one(2k). So anyone know a shop or anything around the plano/dallas area that can make a system for me?

Does anyone know the thread size for the hanger bolts that go on either side of the gas tank? I am about to redo my exhaust similar to the Kooks one but under the axle. I need to hang the mufflers in about the same place but threw away those hanger bolts several years ago .

Default PHR relocate needed?

Is the re-location kit for the PHR required for duals using 2.5 inch pipe?

Default Which x pipe to use?

I am having 2.5 inch dualsover the axle made for my SS but I don't want to use stainless since the car isn't drive in bad weather. I know Magnaflow makes a nice x-pipe but its stainless. Also; I was debating between a h-pipe and the x-pipe, but the cross-over pipe in the h-pipe would just be a few inches long since I am running the pipe together down the driveshaft tunnel.

No, it is not needed. It just makes install over the axle alot easier and gives you peace of mind. Most people don't use it. I didn't either, but later I noticed the pipes were hitting the panhard bar, so I bought the kit.

BTW, I think UMI makes the exact same kit but is slightly cheaper.

Here are a few shots of mine. Not the best because I don't have any access to a lift right now. I went with the Bassani True Duals in stainless with QTP longtubes. I purchased stainless steel reducers along with Stainless V-Band Clamps. Ground Clearance is good. Lowest spot is on the Driver Side. I don't have a sound clip yet, but I'll get one shortly.
This shows the V-Band Clamp and reducer.

Muffler

Here's the ground clearance. I have about 3.75" on a stock height car.
