yeh guys....dialing in today my fuel trims did go way neg(-12.5%) at idle so log my VE and make some changes (i am running a MAF)
is there anything else i should change when in CL?
log VE and change
IFR is set
?? any other changes.... change MAF numbers maybe?? if the VE doesn't fix it?

gotcha... so if fuel trims are still way negative once the VE is dialed in then just adjust the MAF numbers also.....
i may see what the fuel trims will do, as I'm about to be gone for 3 weeks and the car will only be driven for maybe 2 days a week of those 3 weeks....
and then the turbo install will begin !!!
and AGAIN i will have to tweak the VE table and the MAF(maybe).... but anyways
its always fun

ok...this is weird. at idle in OL the car will run at a 11.5:1...lowered the VE table by 30% and still at 11.5:1
at times it will go to 14.6 and 15.0 but then come back down to a 11.5~11.8:1
i did put the car in OL and set the MAF codes and fail freq according to EFI lives write up to tune in the VE (i didn't disconnect the MAF...maybe that has something to do with it, but the fuel system says OL in efi live)
i will try something tomorrow as my VE numbers have gone nearly half the values they were and those were dialed in correctly and resulted in a 12.8 AFR....so somethings up
also with the A/C on it constantly set on a 15.0:1 and the car would idle a little rough going from 760 to 830 and i could tell it was being loaded and stumbling a little

If you're running it OL for your tuning, you need to set the OLFA (Open Loop Fuel Adder) table to 1.0 in the area you're tuning in. Otherwise its going to be rich like that... albeit that AFR is a bit excessive. I'm guessing this was on a cold(er) start?
BTW, thanks to Marcin for typing all that out, very well said.

ok to clarify the motrons are rated at 43.5psi?
and my actual fuel pressure is between 58-60....so
I use the numbers 43.5
58
and 60
i get 8.7295 for the first value...that right?

well **** guys. found out the problem,
the old racetronix injectors i had were rated at 58psi
these motrons are rated at 43.5psi @60lb/hr
so yeh....thats why my VE is off. time to email speedinc and tell them to list that with the injectors if they don't mind...it was kind of a pain to find on the net

The 60's are definately not too big to work on a stock car. I have plenty of them (including my old firebird) on 60's with stock or small cam, small CID, big FI and no issues whatsoever.
If it comes down to it I can help you with it.

only thing i was thinking was that at idle...how could the 60#ers go small enough to use that little bit of them that is required to achieve stoich at idle?
well for now the 36.5 injectors are going in while i'm going to be working in charlotte so that the car can be run several times in the 3 weeks that i will be gone.. and then when i get back home(wilson) I will start getting all the turbo piping built and and have all of that ready. i may or may not bolt on the turbo and have it on and working then but i will have that ready to bolt on (already got a tune made for 36.5 injectors that will be safe), and i know not to go WOT with those small of injectors.
then i will bring the car to charlotte and probably get up with someone to get it tuned for the turbo and the injectors

When I develop tuning tables for a new injector I know I'll be using, I buy a set and plug them into my bone stock '98 TA, and '95 LT1 Camaro. I work out the tables on the dyno at various loads and RPM, then I drive the vehicle for a few days with one of my Tech2s by my side, monitoring fuel trims. That way I know the injector slope and offset table are correct. When I tune a modified car with them I know then any fuel trim issues are with other tables. The 60lb Motrinics ran just fine in my both my LS1 and LT1 stock test vehicles. You may have to break down and try what I recommended earlier.
Good luck, Ed

When a FI car is at idle or pretty much anytime at cruise it acts like a non-FI. In fact when I pulled the T-Trim off my formula I let my brother drive it for a month or two with the 60's in it and like I said before.. no gas odor, no tuning issues, and i'm confident it would have passed emmissions.
