Default Monsoon head unit question

Can somebody tell me if this head unit will control a factory cd changer?

Yes it does - the port that's near the center of the back is the 9-pin CD changer port. However, that doesn't mean that the head unit will control a changer. If it's a cassette head unit then it will control a changer. If it's a CD head unit then it will only control a changer if it's a 2000 (actually late 1999) model or newer. The CD head units before that still had the port but it was designed to control an external cassette player (a GM option that was never available in F-bodies but was used in other models).

The head unit is a cd player out of a '99 Firebird. I'm looking to replace the tape deck in a '99 WS6 that I just picked up but I want to retain control of the factory changer. I guess I'll pass on this one and look for a 2000 or newer unit just to be safe. Thanks for the help!

It just so happens that I have a 2000 Monsoon CD head unit that I could sell you. I know it works with the changer because I also have the changer and could sell that too. Let's say $75 plus shipping for the head unit - PM me if you want it.
