Default The beginning of something (TTi install)

Well, have begun my TTi street T76 install. Also did a cam swap too, going from F13 to 2003 Z06 cam.

So far I would say I am about half done, but I am slow and meticulous. I also have made a few very minor improvements to the turbine, crossover and log. I will post pics of these if somebody wants.

I put my racetronix pump and gauges in about 3 weeks ago. Not too bad overall, just took a while running and extending the wires for stuff, but I did not drill the firewall at all

Then on to the cam R&I. No real problems there, and no lifters dropped. While the engine cover was off I drilled/tapped the oil pan in the drivers side corner as shown. I think this is a pretty good way to do it with the TTi kit (and maybe others), and I hope to have zero smoking issues. I was also able to get any shavings that made it in the pan. Only downside I see is that a 1/2" pipe thread may not fit in the space, but the 3/8" I used worked great.

Finished oil return hole.

Currently I have the pass side manifold on, and I put the log on to do some test fitting. Found out a couple bolt holes in the log are off a slight amount, had a heck of a time getting the front most bolt in. So I am going to slightly enlarge the holes and all should be good.

Intercooler should arrive this week, so might be able to get it running by end of the weekend. I still have some work to do on cold side pipes, but have to wait for the i/c to do that.

Pete

FWIW, when installing this kit, I found it better to leave the log unbolted in postion (ie not attached to the head) and then slid the turbo attached to the dp in place. I then attached the turbo to the log, followed by bolting the whole set-up to the head. THis gives much more to work with and allows bettter access to the 4 turbine bolts which are in very tight spots.

Good luck with the install.

Later,
Dave

Mecham, stock bottom end. I think (hope) it holds until next year, then I will upgrade to forged shortblock. And yes, running off the WG spring for now. Might get a boost controller later down the line.

Dave, your a genius. I was already planning to do that. I was doing some log test fitting in the pic. Turns out a couple of the log to head bolts are real tough to get in, so I am going to slightly enlarge those holes before putting everything in.

I do have 1 question, can somebody tell me what the far left bolt hole if for on the alternator relocation bracket? You can just see it in my pic above. Also, anybody had belt problems with the alternator being spaced out about 1/8"?

I see, thanks Ryan. Have not EGR for some time now, forgot where it was when I did have it on the car.

Attentive folks may notice what else I removed from the car that I did not need.

Default progress tonight

My slight alterations to the TTi parts. I know it is not much, may not gain anything noticeable, but I will make the best with what I have. On the crossover for some reason TTi had the flange openings at 2", while the pipe is actually 2.25". So, I just enlarged the flanges and chamfered them a bit to smooth out the flow into them. Now everything is about the same size.

Also, the log opening into the turbine is round, the turbine opening is a rectangle. So I modified the turbine housing to make it more round. Should make for a smoother airflow path, I hope. I also enlarged the log to head bolt holes slightly with my dremel where needed.

I also threw the belt on to test fit and see that the alternator is too far rearward; does not line up with the other pulleys. Looks to be about 1/8" to far back. Any other TTi guys have this issue?

If the Alt is about 1/8 too far back, can't you use some washers as spacers?

Here is the PCV setup I am thinking about starting out with. Post up any comment or opinions on if it will work. Was going to block off the TB port, or use it for my boost gauge.

I would use the brake master for boost and not the TB port. Nice work on the kit man, you appear to be very thorough
