Default Just got EFI Live...questions

Well I'm happy to say that I got EFI Live yesterday. Chad from Green Light Motorsports was wonderful to do business with and so was Paul and Ross. After a lot of research I decided on EFI Live because of it's great reputation among the top industry professionals. I feel comfortable in knowing that EFI Live is a "bullet proof" piece of software.

Now on to the questions...

I have a 2000 model year WS6 and was recommended to use a 2002 operating system. When I do this, obviously I'll need to retune for my cam, headers, and slight intake mods (bellow and ported TB). I don't have any tuning done for my heads yet. So my question is, what's the general workflow for tuning for a heads and cam setup? Dial in the VE, LTFT, STFT, and then spark? Why haven't I seen any how to's for tuning a cam?

I also have about 4.0 knock in the upper RPM's. Should I fix that with modifying spark or fuel? Which table? Should I just switch over to the 02 operating system first and then work on the knock?

I'm getting a random misfires code, could lack of tuning for heads cause that? There's a P1637 code that's probably the wire on the top of the alternator so I'll worry about that later.

Thanks!

One...read the stickies. Tuning the fueling on a stock or modified car is relatively the same.

Two...stay out of the upper rpms until you get a wideband O2 hooked up and can tune that area too. Chances are you're running rather lean and you could mess up the motor running it up there.

Three...read, search, read and read some more. There's a ton of info on here and in the stickies about tuning for spark, fuel, idle, etc. If you have a specific question about how to do something, people will be more than happy to help. But, posting generic questions will only tend to **** people off in here.

Congrats on the EFILive purchase. You've got a powerful tool at your fingertips and yes, the support is great. Paul, Ross, Jes (wait4me), Chad and all of the others on here are great sources of information, help, etc. Best of luck!

Yeah Id flash first. Even consider a custom OS if you think you might want to run SD all the time.

KR could be AFR but more likely spark. Missfire code could be cam, you can tune that out.

But take SSpdDmon's advise and read up loads first. Do lots of logging.

I would start out with OS 12212156 for your car. It is really common and used quite frequently. There are some modified files on www.holdencrazy.com that you can look at for a reference as well.

Thanks!!!!
