Default 99 dash harness different than 98?

I swapped a 99 engine harness into my 98 and there is a missing connector by the pass kick panel for the dash harness. Thare were 3 connectors on my 98 engine harness and only 2 on the 99. Now my instrument cluster is not working. What needs to be done? This is a double swap I have a 98 and a 99 car and was swapping them around. Did I screw myself?

98 and 99 dash are different. The 98 was mostly analog. You can probably still use it but you will have to re pin the connector to match the wiring for the 99. I think I have all the internals for a 98 cluster if you need it let me know

I thought I sent you both wiring diagrams. You should have studied the wiring diagrams on both cars and make you understood where everything goes before attempt to do the swap. Back to the drawing board my friend. You had everything you need on your hands. You will have to do the work. If not it will cost you for something like this.

I decided to repin my 98 harness instead to try and retain all accessories.I finished and I have 4 wires left over. Red connector pin 36,41,63, and blue 3. They are serial data,a/c pressure sensor ground, fuel gauge output control, and low oil level indicator lamp. Are any of these important? Are all my accessories going to work? Gauges? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Phil,
You should be able to start the car up without those wires. However your fuel level gauge won't work if you don't connect R-36. The AC pressure sensor ground you don't need (R-63). If you have your oil pressure gauge hook up correctly you don't need the low oil level warning light either (R-41).
Last the B-3, this is the serial to the DLC (ODB2 connector under the steering column). This is for tunning/programming the PCM. GL

There are 2 serials on the 98 and only 1 on the 99. Which one do I use? Also where do I hook up the fuel gauge pin to? There are no pin in the 99 for these.

Thanks!

I believe the 99 communicated fuel level to the cluster over the serial data link, not with a discrete wire like the 98

Phil,
The B-3-TAN wire is the serial line from your EBTCM/EBCM. Do you have EBTCM in your 98 car? If not you don't need to connect that wire.

For the fuel gauge. You can try to hook the R-36 to your 99 R-54-PPL wire.

Brains is correct the 99 used serial line to send fuel level info the gauge. But it's not a problem because the PCM is getting the fuel level info from 99 R-54 - PPL wire. So you can use this same wire to your gauge. GL
