I've had a squeak coming from my alternator pulley for some time now, and I finally decided to replace it. Problem is I haven't been able to find a part number for it. Does anyone have the part number for the stock alternator pulley?

Also if one isn't available, does ASP make a stock sized alternator pulley that'll work the same as stock? I don't want an UD/OD alternator pulley, just a stock working alternator pulley.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I don't see how the altenator pulley could squeel. The pulleyis held onto the shaft by a nut. If a squeeling sound is coming from the altenator, then it's probably the altenator going out.

It could be the idler pulley above it. They are known for going out as well. I would suggest getting a dealer pulley, if it is the problem. I went through 3 Autozone pulleys before I went to the dealer. I haven't had a problem since.

If it is the altenator pulley for sure, pm me your info and I'll send you my stock pulley. I have a 160amp alt. and an overdrive pulley. So I don't need the stock one.

 

Thanks for the advice. I already had in mind to replace the idler pulley, the tensioner pulley, and the alternator pulley, with GM parts. I'm sure it's the alternator pulley, because when my belt went out, I spun it by hand and it woud squeak with every turn. I'll PM you right now.

 

I hav the exact same problem, and i do not understand how u would change the alt. pulley. wouldn't u just have to switch out the whole alt?

 

I would put money on the alternator going out, I've seen it several times. Switching the pulley wont help.

Sounds like a bearing in the alternator is failing. The pulley itself is physically unable to squeak or squeal, it is fixed to the shaft.

 

My alternator was doing it, and I assure you, it is the alternator itself. I just replaced it, and the squeak went away.
