Default 224/224 ?'s

I am looking into doing a cam... yea i am stuck in tree lovin gay *** CA
this seems to be the popular smog cam from what i have found searching around here for the past couple weeks. My current mods are in my sig. I was wondering if this cam would work good with my current setup??? Can you run this cam with stock head (changing the valve springs of course ). It this a good daily driven cam?? Which LSA would i have to run 112 or a 114???
Any info would be greatly appreciated
Hell if u have one lying around let me know

(i know i will have to get a tuned to get by smog/ perform optimal reguardless)

I was wanting to get this Cam also. I am not sure if I am totally correct & someone else will chime in here..You don't need to change the heads with this cam, If you want the most power out of it I am sure there is a set that will match up good. It depends on how much HP you want. I think the 224 244 114 is a dood daily driver & will pass smog easily, I think the 112lsa Might barely pass smog & you would need a good tune for the cam, Probably a good idea to tune the 114 also to get the most power out of it. I see you have Nitrous, I don't know if this cam is good for that? Like I say, a lot of people here will give you their opinions.

W/ the 224/224 .565/.565 112lsa I put down 385rwhp 384rwtq. Not a lot but pretty good for stock '98 heads...

You will pass smog with a 224/224 with a 114 lsa. On a 112 lsa it can also be done but needs more tunning and is harder to get it to pass. Of course if you know someone that will pass it for you go bigger. As for stock heads there is a few members in this section that run alot bigger of a cam with stock heads.

i want to be able to get it smogged legit, i know all cams are not technically legal but i do want something that will pass a sniffer and this car is daily driven thanks for your input though

Oh, I understand, but me personally i would just find a friend and do what you want. This about how many performance cars are in CA that wont pass smog. I.E. supras. lol

was gunna go that route when i had a clean iroc sitting and had a nicely built 454 sitting on an engine stand... but i found my T/A and put the 454 in a 70 SS Camaro and ended up selling it all ....except for the T/A that is...

I just passed smog today with a TR224-114 with home-ported heads and stock exhaust manifolds and cats. I wasn't even close to failing, so I suspect you could go with a bigger cam with no issues.

I didn't do anything specific to smog in the tuning, either.

224 doesnt sound like a bad cam, it definately beats the stocker, and if you can get away with it, great. I'd say screw the smog ***** and get a big cam if you're gonna go ahead and do all the necesary cam swap stuff. MS4 sounds like a killer cam to me, good power from midrange up.

I have a TR224, I recommend getting something bigger because later you will wish you went bigger.

I have the mti c2 224/224 on a 112 and it pulls hard in the upper rpm's. Plus it has a little loop to it so the old school guys hear it and notice the muscle car. I would take 67rs advice and get a bigger cam though, if you can find a smog hook up.

I felt the same way and then I bought the T rex and I love it. there are people that will hook you up as far as smog goes shoot me a PM

currently runnin the 224/224-112 and about to swap it out for the TRex next month. it just wasn't enough for me although it was great for daily driving and a first cam while it lasted.

if you can find a hookup... all the better

or you can find a friend/relative out of state and hook you up
