Default When is it rec. to use synthetic oils in a new car?

I just bought some Redline10w30 and on the label it says not to use as a breakin oil. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> They state not prior to 3,000 miles. My car just hit 500 miles! Some one gave me a name of a tech at Red Line so i called him. He did said that you should keep using the dino oil for a minimum of 2000 miles. I told him the car {LS1 Firehawk} comes with sythetic oil from the factory and he seemed puzzled. If you shouldn't break in a car with syth. why does the factory build them with it in?

I thought synthetic factory fill was an option for the Camaro SS in 98 & 99 but they dropped that option and no longered offered it in on the 00's. I didn't think FireHawks came with or had the option of factory fill for synthetic. I don't know for sure.

I do know the Vette gets a factory fill of Mobile 1 5w-30 and this is due to the higher tempratures the vette sees.

My dealer insisted I wait until the second oil change before going to synthetic. I'd wait and follow Red lines suggestions.

You can run a new engine with Mobil 1, however because of the really high concentration of moly in Redline, it's not recommended to use it for the first few thousand miles. Moly is a super slippery antiwear additive. A new engine is still basically broken in before you even take delivery of the car, but Redline is being extra cautious with their recommendations just to make sure your rings are seated before using their oils.
