eh? The whole car painted black? Nahh I don't think that would look good. Would probably look unfinished IMO. However I think a nice NBM or SOM car with flat black stripes would look killer. Kinda like the old Cudas and such.

I painted my 71 flat black lacquer. I've always liked the look of fresh black primer, but don't like the way it fades to ashy dark gray and comes off on anyone that leans on it. I also know that plain primer provides no mositure protection.

It has since lost most of the small amount of shine it had, and pretty much looks like freshly applied black primer, but not as dark or satin. Besides, I drive and track my RS, so I inevitably get scratches, dings, etc. No problem, I just fix it, then squirt on some fresh laquer. I'm happy.

The only 4th Gen that I have seen painted completely flat/satin black is the GMPP LS7 swap car on the cover of GMHTP mag a month or so back. That car looked sicking sweet.

I've seen pics of a flat black Camaro SS on pro stars on this site somewhere. I think the owner is from the Chicago area.

I've seen that one in person when the Hot Rod Power Tour made a stop in Columbia, SC. IMHO, the satin look is ok for fat fendered hot rods and on "in progress" street machines, like the second generation RS above. I don't think it looks good on late models.

Guys...there is a REASON why no one does it to their 4th gen...because they don't want it looking like trailer park trash on cinder blocks!

i gotta say that it will be light years easier to maintain... im soo pissed i bought a black car... impossible to keep nice as a daily driver... but it looks alright... i agree if done right flat black can look kool... but it cant just be a stock z28 painted flat black it would look like the paint is faded beyond repair... maybe flat black with some red wheels couple accents here and there... might have some potential... i dont have enough ***** to do it tho... good luck...

^^I like it! It's not anything I would do, but it is unique for sure and I'd stop and take a picture of it if I was at that car show!
