98 Formula Hardtop F/S
Car is SOLD to a fellow board member. Thanks for all the interest.
1998 Formula Firebird Hardtop, 118,XXX miles, Black with Grey/Beige Cloth interior,A4, Traction Control, Leather wrapped steering wheel with radio controls. Clean and Clear title in hand.
I bought this car earlier this year for a daily, but trying to afford something else so this would have to go. The car came to me needing some TLC.
Interior
The interior was stripped out and alot replaced. What didn't get replaced were things that just needed a good cleaning. Things replaced were, the Carpet (Grey), Seats (Grey), Floormats (Grey), Seatbelts (Grey), Shift ****, E-brake with handle, Dashpad, lot's of little peices to make the car complete. Everything was removed and cleaned thoroughly. The car originally had a manual drivers seat, but I got a power unit. Still have the manual track if you would rather have that in the car. The interior now has Dynamat down in the whole rear, rear seat area and under the front seats. Really helped out silencing all the road noise in the f-body. The Beige door panels, sail panels and rear side panels were kept as I couldn't find grey ones. I used grey accents where I could like the doom light housing, coat hangers. The two tone look really turned out well with the majority being grey instead of beige. Only have one key fob.
The only bad issues with the interior: The only thing missing is a set of grey sunvisors. Haven't found those yet. The light buld is out in the right side steering wheel controls. The pass. window motor is dying. I used the AutoFix module and it helped alot but it's still very slow. I have a new motor, but haven't had time to install in yet. The motor of course will go with the sale. Other then that the interior is in good shape, either new or cleaned peices.
Exterior
The paint is so, so. The front bumper has spiderwebbing, looks like it had an impact. The hood was dented in the front nose area. The hood got replaced by a 01 car that was factory black. The car scraped something on both sides. The drivers side on the front quarter and front part of the drivers door. And the passenger side rear quarter and rear of the pass. door. Both areas have seen wetsanding and polishing that helps alot. Both sides recieved scratches, but not dented in or anything. With a polish and a wax job the car is a good 5 foot car. The rest of the car is as you would imagine a 10 year old car would be. Plus it's black, so it shows everything.
There is a reciept from a local Caddy dealership for body work. Looks like the pass. rear quarter had some work done. The receipt was for around $1,500, back in 00.
Mechanical
There is nothing wrong to report. Very strong 98 car. I replaced all filters and fluids. The motor has Mobil 1 with a Fram filter. The tranny recieved Mobil 1 ATF with a new filter. The rear got Royal Purple Maxx Gear. New GM fuel filter. The car has a aftermarket airlid, with Fram filter. I put a T/A Girdle on the rear, with the optional main stud kit.
Little history before I got it, from reciepts I got with the car. The Maint. of the car was well taken care of in regards to the driveline, etc... The car got a new A/C system in 12/05 including compressor and condenser. Car had new springs, struts and shocks in later part of 05, aswell as brakes. Factory rotors were turned, by the looks of the width. Generic pads were used, but work. Very low dusting, no squeaking. It had both headlight motors replaced in mid 06.
I put a set of factory Z06 wheels on it. Bought with new Toyo T1R's. The tires have around 4k miles on them now, so plenty of tread left. No racing or anything, just some daily driving. I still have the factory wheels if you would rather have them.
The only other thing I can think of to disclose is the Antenea Mast needs replacing. You can hear the motor run, but the mast does not bring down the Ant. Oh, and the pass. power mirror doesn't work. Havent' looked into that yet, keep forgetting since I don't adjust it.
That's it. It's a great daily driver. It's no show car though. I've enjoyed it, and would continue to, but like I said I have another project to fund so this one has to go. The car's averaging around 22 to 23mpg right now in 90 to 100 degree heat, with a good amount of city driving.
NEW PRICE Asking $6,600 OBO for it. Feel free to make an offer though. Car is located in Raleigh N.C. If you would like pics, please leave or pm your e-mail and I'll get them out to you. I need to take some with the Z06 wheels on it. The pics I have right now are with the factory wheels. I might be open to a partial trade with cash, but keep in mind I'm funding another project.
Thanks for looking.
