Me chasing a Z51 vette @ 170mph (Video)
Well the PE 130 has come and gone and it was a BLAST! I cant thank Jeff enough for giving me the opportunity to drive the 87 mile leg of the event. That car is AMAZING to drive! The second leg of the event was cancelled after Don and Greg had a pretty serious off road excurion at a little over 170mph and had to be taken to hospitals.
Over the course of the first 50miles of the run I didnt even take my foot off the throttle once for any of the corners and I managed to average 163.9mph up until we got caught in a rain storm and I spent about 5 miles under 100mph becuase I couldnt see out the windshield. It dropped our average to about 148mph IIRC. As soon as it cleared up I got back into the throttle and was able to get the average up to 154.3mph. Our target speed was 150mph but niether of us had any intention of hitting that number. We were looking to be as close to 160mph average as possible without being DQ'ed to put any rumors of my driving ability to rest. But for some strange reason there were only 4 cars entered in the 150 class and one of them was DQ'ed so we backed into a 3rd place finish. If we could have had better weather we could have EASILY clocked off a 159mph average.
The link to the video is from practice on Friday and I was chasing down Dave Carpenter in his C6. Enjoy!

We got a lot closer to each other then that just up the road, we have been waiting for a chance to do this sort of thing for quite awhile.

He aint lying either. We got CLOSE about another mile or two down. Close enough to where we could see them inside the car.

Come on out
Crisisman,
Now is the time to start planning for next year and collecting gear. 2Fast and Wahasker have been to a race. Boyce has been to many. They are all from your area. They will show you the ropes. For any of you guys that think this would be fun have no idea what a blast this really is. In the video we are at about 170 there are guys going through that same area at 208-212mph. I myself have gone through there at 203mph. The race is just a small part of the weekend, it is the people that make the real fun. Ask Mark and Ellis you can't meet a more open and friendly group. So come on out.
