I bought my car with straight pipes and Dynomax Bullet mufflers. Due to the Spohn torque arm you couldn't run an x-pipe setup unless it was custom. So the straight pipes hung very low and as you can imagine was very loud. The car sounded mean as hell, but the neighbors didn't like it much and it was only a matter of time before the cops didn't either. I originally was going to buy ARH LT's with thier ORY and a Magnaflow catback. But then I starting thinking; why not just save the money on the LT's, since the car had them anyway(Grot 1-7/8), and get a custom system made? I did some searching and came across MM98's setup and I knew that was what I wanted. So off with the straight pipes(sorry Bryan!!!) and on to the phone to contact Mufflex.

Here's the details on the system:
Custom 3" ORY with extra bung for my wideband.
Custom y-pipe merge.
3.5" catback.
Magnaflow muffler.
Dumped tip by the LR tire.
All mandrel bends.

The car is quiet! Well atleast compared to the straight pipes. It has a very deep tone at idle, it drones out the cam alittle bit but you can still hear it through the muffler. Driving around town is more bearable although there is still drone, which I expected. During WOT it doesn't scream like the straight pipes did, it's more of a roar. It's so deep and clean, I love it. I don't like tips on Camaro's either so the hidden tip is so pimp. The ground clearance is awesome aswell, which is good since I plan on lowering the car. I know, I know...it looks like a monster truck.

The only complaint I would have is that the system is completley welded, except to the headers. This is partially my fault, I told Mufflex every single detail I wanted and I forgot to mention that I wanted the y-pipe to catback to be a slip-fit. It's a minor thing though. Overall I am extremely happy with the exhaust.

Onto the pictures. Sorry, I didn't bother taking any videos yet, I know the digital camera won't do it any justice. I'm waiting to get my brothers camcorder.

It sounds amazing! So friggin' deep and clean, that's the best way to describe it.

I honestly don't know any real details on the merge, I thought they were going to use a flowmaster merge(eventhough I didn't ask them to) but this one is much smaller and looks good. I am not sure what it looks like on the inside though.

Yeah, that's the one downside I stated. No sweat though. I am going back to Mufflex to have my SFC's welded in, I am going to see what they can do about it. Atleast it's not welded to the headers, that would blow.

 

shouldnt be difficult, 1 or 2 connections in the intermediate pipe and a connection on the inlet side of the muffler, should be all thats needed.

i would just hate to have to replace a fuel pump the way it is!

Looks like my old 4" Mufflex w/ Magnaflow. I loved it. The 3.5" looks considerably smaller though. Wierd...

You know, I said the same thing. At first I thought he may of just used 3" piping, haha, but it is infact 3.5".

 

This is a great system... especially for forced induction... i've ran this for almost two season's now and VERY impressed with it... muffler is also lighter than the flowmasters...
