Default Over 2 years in development ---> New Fast Toys 85mm Air Lid!!!!

After more than 2 years of development time, Fast Toys is pleased to announce that we have a brand new 98-02 LS1 Camaro/Firebird airlid available to work with 85mm MAF's in the next few days! No longer will you be stuck with restrictive stock sized air lids and MAF's.

This new air lid is designed to work with an 85mm MAF for maximum airflow and performance. The MAF will push directly into the air lid outlid so no adapters are required. The lid features our exclusive "Power Bulge" design to increase the air lid volume substantially and provide a smooth air flow transition flow from the horizontal air filter to the MAF sensor. Provisions for the stock IAT sensor are provided. This lid installs on the stock factory lower air filter base. The only color available is black. You cannot use this lid with the stock sized MAF unless you come up with your own coupler/reducer.

The lid will work on everything from stock to highly modified motors. Best results will be on the modified cars that require more airflow than the stock lid and MAF combo can provide.

The lid also works fantastic with the Fast Toys Ram Air Kit (FTRA)!

00-02 cars will still be required to use a breather filter for the smog pump (not provided with the lid at this time).

This was a very long and painstaking process but we are glad they are finally done. We have only done a short production run for this first batch so if you want one, please email us at sales@fasttoys.net with your full name, address and day time phone #. You can also call us at sales@fasttoys.net during normal business hours. Please do not send PM's!

These will be shipped on a first come, first serve basis. Introductory pricing is

129.99

Damn just when I thought I had everything. You will be getting a call....and some dyno numbers on a big cube motor, if you'd like to hook a deal up I'll do a pull with the old one and the new one for comparison.

Maybe you should stop letting your fat girlfriends sit on the hood

Most lids rub where the neck meets the hood. We made the forward portion of the lid higher for more volume but tucked the neck down so it doesn't stick up any higher.

Now you need to make a smoked clear version...

Course you're not gonna be able to do that by thermoforming

Ordered mine today I'll let everyone know how it fits. They didn't bite on the back to back dyno's so I probably won't do that, I'll talk to the tuner and if no big deal I may try it just to see if there is a difference in the lids.

I'd be interested to see the power difference between this one and say a SLP or MTI lid.

Hmmm, I'm thinking about getting rid of the maf all together and doing a straight shot from the lid to the FAST 90mm.

I'm thinking this might be the route to go.

Good question Unit... if the narrowist point isn't any wider than a stock lid, then it's just as much of a restriction.

Default No MAF - No restrictions

DEFINITELY. We have found in our testing that even a descreened 85mm MAF is still a restriction over a lid and straight coupler.

Default Internal passages

I have no tool to accurately measure the internal diameter. I cannot get calipers in there.

It does neck down a little as the round outlet transitions to the inside of the lid but there is a relieft notch that was put into the mold to at that point to increase the overall area. Also, through the transition, the internal passage changes shape and flares out into the lid.

We wanted a smooth transition from the rectangular air filter cavity to the round exit. Making a completely rectangular air filter cavity and just tacking on a round exit with no transition doesn't flow very well!

We did some bench testing on the flow rate compared to other aftermarket lids and were very satisfied with the results.

You need a bore gauge.

To accurately measure that portion of the lid is simple. All you need is telescoping gauges and micrometers. Well, one each that falls within the correct range. Finding someone with a set shouldn't be difficult.
