Well according to slp's website 2000-2002 need it. Some black piece of hose hooks up to it, maybe for Air pump or egr or something. Im not 100% sure what it does, but install directions say you need it for a 00-02, and the 98-99 dont need it. It was on the car when i bought it, but i have a 98 so never needed it.
