Default Project: Mystic Z

as you all may know, i wrecked my Z28 about 2 weeks ago. the insurance company totaled it and i bought it back. so i got 6600.00 to work with. well this is the official thread where i will be detailing the rebuild process.

Wreck thread, if your not familar
https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-lsx-automobile-discussion/842014-wrecked-my-98-a.html

things on the agenda are:

H/C/I: MS4, TSP PRC 5.3 STG 2.5, FAST 90/NW90
Rear End: Moser 12 bolt w/4.10's
Clutch: Undecided, input welcome
Suspension: QA1's all around, new TQ arm, LCA's, etc.....
for the body, just putting it back together with the addition of the Berger mod, '69 Z28 emblems, and VFN Sunoco hood. and the entire car is getting repainted....ill add more to the list as i get further into it and see where my money takes me......

anyways here are pics of the car after the wreck......

during and after the tear down......

Hopefully if the insurance check gets to me and the BMV cooperates, the car will be at the frame shop next week sometime and have all the body pannels fitted next (26th, 27th) weekend. but i will keep updating this thread as progress is made. thanks all for your support, enjoy the project.

1-15-07

talked to one frame guy, keep in mind this is the same guy that pulled the entire shock tower, inner fender and part of the core support from underneath the A pillar and dash out on our '95 Firebird convertable, and replaced them as neccessary, and only charged like $450.00 or so......

well this guy wants to cut the entire front end off at the firewall, and start over on my car. our 'Bird was hit a ton harder than my car, and he wants to charge me $1000.00. not sure yet, but this may be my best bet so that it is perfect. im going to talk to a few more frame guys and see what they have to say.

no, i paid 1300 for the front end.....so far, i got about 2k in the build. thats not including all the **** i bought for the heads and cam.

i got 1300 in the front end, which had everything i needed except a radiator, ASR module and......um...thats it....of course i had to buy paint, 600 (painting the whole car) and new headlights because the ones that came with the front end had hazing, so i didnt want thoes on my car. so roughly 2k in the rebuild.....

no, the junkyard i bought it from i guess bought it from a salvage auction. i assume it was hit real hard in the rear, so they took off it what they could and cut the damaged part off. then sold the front as a whole. they had all kinds of front ends and rear ends down there. its the nicest cleanest junkyard ive ever seen. all the parts are inside except the good front and rear ends. there was a rear end of a brand new solstice sitting down there....

Where is this place, what is its name? I'm going to be needing a driver fender and front bumper cover and passenger mirror at some point and I'd prefer to get OEM so I know it fits right (though one guy here got an aftermarket front bumper from an ebay store and it was perfect, so I wonder about their fenders...). As long as the price is good too, I don't want to spend close to what a new one costs.
