Default How much HP from a lid?

Hmmm

ill answer my own question.

About 10-20 depending on the lid. Highly reccomend TSP's new lid. Fit is great!

I must have used 6hp pulling the sensor out of the stock lid! Any tips for those who will be doing this?

Go get a new sensor form the dealership or the SDPC GM Performance Parts Center (over there --->). They aren't too expensive and save a lot of hassle.

Would have saved me a lot a spit a few months ago... Wait, the spit was to get it IN to the aftermarket lid. Either way, the best is to fork over the extra few bucks if the vendor offers it installed already.

I just installed a TSP lid in my car last night and I can't believe it but I noticed a bolt on, I mean really noticed it. I'd say it was comparable to headers on my LT1!

The Sensor wasn't that bad I used a tiny screwdrive and a little Wd40 and she popped right out. They are cheap though.

Lid really is as good as everyone says! Now I have to start saving for my FLP headers!!

I got 15.1 rwhp after a back to back dyno. Used stock filter, car had 2,350 miles. The lid's a Whisper.

Generally speaking you're going to see about 10rwhp which is pretty incredible if you think about it. GM did a horrible job of designing the intake portion of the fbody. I think it was done intentionally so that their beloved 'vettes wouldn't be out done.

They did it to make it quiet. OEM stuff is weird like that. That stock baffling sucks ***. TSP all the way!

Sure they did. That's what they want you to believe. And they put the MAF screen on to "straighten out airflow" too right? How about the way the lid sits directly over the core support so only 50% of the filter sucks in cool air from the botto of the car. The 'vette sure isn't designed that way.

Do Corvettes have a MAF screen?

that baffle is called an air silincer, you should see the ones on the trucks. It silences the vacum draw from the throttle body. Believe me it's much quiter with the silencer on. Especialy with a ported tb.

Very true. It's much quieter with it on. It also slows down and creates turbulent air flow. In turn you make less power.

what kills me is dont cars with SLP equipped lids have no sound baffle?i think the intake design on ls1 fbodies is far better then previous SBC.

Sure they designed in an intake restriction.

GM claimed the MAF screen was "left" over from design similar to the LT1 where the air had to move around corner just before the MAF.

Just another restriction

I picked up 16rwhp over stock with a lid, cutout, and K&N filter.

I saw a tenth of second improvement over the stock lid with my direct-flo lid. Adding a set of stock MAF ends with the splitter and screen removed was another tenth, but I had to add the MAFT to control the damn pinging!

ARGGGGHHHH! My LS1 used to ping like a s.o.b. I hated that. It never detonated on nitrous though thank God.
