Default 2001 Camaro Z28 (Maryland)

Sold!

2001 Chevy Camaro Z28, 6-speed, T-tops, red with gray cloth interior, Koni single adjustables, Monsoon sound system with single disc CD player, Hurst shifter. Power windows, locks, mirrors and driver’s seat.

99,XXX miles. I got the car with a blown engine at 91,500 miles and had a long block from a 2001 SS installed with around 35,000 miles. The transmission is also out of the same SS (nothing wrong with original trans, just got the engine and trans as a package and had the lower mileage trans installed, too).

Car is stock except for the Konis. Still ran a 13.000 @ 109 mph at Capitol Raceway on Kumho ASX street tires.

Misc maintenance stuff I’ve done: Front and rear rotors and pads, battery, PS pump, front hubs, driver’s side O2 sensors, driver’s side cats (replaced under extended recall), tie rod ends, Redline gear oil in differential, Amsoil air filter, skip-shift eliminator, Falken tires at 98,898 miles. When engine was installed: clutch, rear main seal, spark plugs, belts, thermostat and housing.

Clean title in hand!

$8000 firm. No trades!

Located in Maryland near BWI airport.

Forgot that the transmission that's in the car came with the engine, i.e., they're both from the same lower mileage Camaro. Nothing wrong with the original trans, just decided to have the transmission put in at the same time (the car's original transmission has long since been sold).

Vouching for this car. Pat is a friend of mine, and I have driven it.

Besides, any stock LS1 that's trapping 109 and running 13.00 on real, honest to goodness street tires is a hell of a quick car.

And if it helps, the front Koni's on the car have won an SCCA National Championship, as they used to be on my car.

Still for sale ... if interested, I can put a 35mm Suspension Techniques front sway bar on. Konis + big front bar = great bang for the buck handling.

I can't believe it hasn't sold yet... Screaming deal. Low mileage engine/trans, almost $900 worth of Koni's (installed too).

What was the reason for the blown motor? I'm interested and live close by.

Since Pat on his way to Kansas City for work for a few days....

I believe it was subject to the oil pump failure that some LS1's had and it spun the bearings. At that point the previous owner just dumped the car and Pat bought it and put in the new engine. Having seen and driven the car, I feel it was not beat on (there wasn't one performance mod on it when Pat got the car).

I'm not sure why the old engine went bad. I didn't own the car up to that point, so I don't know if the previous owner didn't believe in oil changes or if he did the "money shift" or if there was an oil pump problem like Sam mentioned. The car actually ran, albeit very badly (dime sized hole on passenger side of block). I didn't ask the shop that installed the new engine to do a tear down and diagnose what went wrong (they may have told me what they thought, but I can't remember for sure).

All I know is that it has been in great care since it's been in my possession. Garaged, waxed, Castrol synthetic, no more crappy DeCarbon shocks ... I've put some miles on it -- drove it once last summer from Maryland to Atlanta and back, a few times from Maryland to southern Virginia -- and had no issues at all. I'd drive it every day but don't like it sitting in the tiny parking spaces at the MARC train commuter lot.
