Default 6.0 LQ4 into 68 vette, questions

I've been looking to do an LS swap into my 68 vette.
After seaching a while, I came to realize the 2001-2006 lq4 6.0 truck engine will give the most bang for the buck.
I might use the existing EFI if it fits under my L88 hood. If I do, what years of these motor were drive by wire?
If it doesnt fit, I'll get a carb setup. What style intake ports do these heads have? Cathedral or rectangular. I need to know which carb manifold will fit.
Also, I'll need the MSD/Edelbrock controler for the carb. Are the 2001 + motors 58X reluctor wheels?
I'll need to convert to the Camaro/Firebird oil pan. Do I need to change the windage tray too?
In terms of upgrades, I'll have headers, but do these motors respond well to cam changes? If so, which cam, nd how big of a difference does it make.
Gary

cathedral ports. edelbrock and gm both make carb style intakes. when changing oil pans just remember that the dipstick and tube, the windage tray, and the oil pump pickup have to match the oil pan type
thats the only ones i know for sure

I carry the mounts and car intake setup for this type of conversion...

C3 ls1 installation mounts and headers:

Our mounts are built to clear the factory ac box and locate the 6 speed shifter in the original console location.

I also carry the carb conversion which we used on our chevelle:

You could also convert your truck style intake to a ls1 setup intake and go injected for about the same cost.

I run a 24x ls1 with CARB setup... used a L88 hood it FITS !! with low slung drop base air filter. You need the MSD 6L6 i think for the 58x wheel.

at least you wont have to cut your springs with the IRON BLOCK LOL

Carshopinc,
Do you carry the dual plane Edelbrock manifold package too?

Carshopinc,

those headers you have do they clear factory brake booster and steering box? I tried several c5 and f-body heaeders with no luck... I am guessing Z06 C5 manifold probably flow as good as the short header?

what is the cost anyway?

Default resurrecting thread

i was doing a search on the subject i found this thread. i noticed you're from Davenport. i grew up in Bettendorf and my dad raced at East Moline Speedway and Hawkeye. any way after my Lemans is done i am planning a 6.0 liter carbed build for my '97 T/A. my main question is does the MSD controller have all that is necessary to fire a "drop out" engine? or is there more to it. i was also wondering about retrofitting my LT1 sensor leads to the 6.0 sensors. will this work? being that i am in the quad cities alot i will probably get all i need from your shop. thanks for any info.

Gary, the best way to be certain about the reluctor is to look at your crank sensor. If it's black, you have a 24X reluctor.
