Default FS/FT: T56 Bellhousing 04+ style

I have a T56 bellhousing for sale from a 04 GTO, this will fit all LS1+ models, but requires the smaller starter found on 04+ LS1s.

Will trade for a 98-02 style bellhousing in good shape, no cracks and threads in good condition, or will sell for $150 shipped.

Wow I guess I'll have to stop driving my car and replace the starter. Damn thats good to know!

I put an 04 GTO tranny in my fbody. Didnt have to change starter! The Bellhousing is the same.

Maybe your starter was already replaced with a newer style, but the fact is that they are different. The new style starters are smaller, and the bellhousing will NOT fit a 98 style starter.

This bellhousing was mounted to my car, and we could not fit the starter in there, and if you search on the rest of the LS1tech board, others have ran into this problem.

I had to install an older style bellhousing (pull tranny again) to fit my starter. I would have just bought a newer style starter, but they are special order even from a dealer, and at a dealer price of $477, I'd opted to replace the bellhousing instead.

The bellhousing is NOT the same. The starter opening on the new style housing is about a half inch smaller than the old style.

I'd like to thank you for your contribution to my for sale post though.

I can probably go on, but this should prove my point. Thanks again!
