98 LS1 into 79 Chevy Impala
Well, I decided to do it. My 79 had an LT1 I put in about 3 or 4 years ago. My brother in law just got back from basic training and is getting married in June, and was looking for an engine and transmission for his El Camino project, so I gave him the LT1 and 350 trans to swap in. I had the LS1 and 4L60E that I was going to stick in a Cavalier, but that will be put on the back burner now, I guess.
Here are a few befores.....
I had to notch the crossmember quite a bit for the 98 TransAm oilpan......
Plans include a Borg Warner S475 turbo that hsould be in at the end of next week. Header flanges and tubing is in, I just need time at home to work. I only get about 1 day at home every 7 days, cause I am on the road all the time.

I just used the plasma cutter and cut out a little, sat the motor in, checked and trimmed some more. I used 1/4" plate for the pieces other than the two little indents on top. Those are 3/8" pieces of angle iron. Other than that, take a look at the holes in the crossmember, and draw your lines on your according to mine.
*Edit* Hey deuce4935, if you right click on the picture, go to properties, copy the url, paste into a browser, and DELETE the *thumb* off the picture url, it will bring up the HUGE original picture so you can get a better look. Hope that helps man!

Well, I found after getting my passenger side header built that there is NO way I am going to fit this huge Borg under my hood, so I'm back to square 2. I think I will try a smaller Master Power T70. I finished up my drivers side header, and now I need to get a new turbo in the make the crossover.
I ordered up some relays and bases from Keefe Performance, and should be finishing up the wiring soon.

Darin, I saw your post on the turbo forums, and thought about it, but I think it might be in the same boat with 2 smaller ones....I dunno. My Borg is an S475 with a 1.32ar.
