Default READ THIS , its a big deal this is for the trans company guys

ok i detonated a stage 3 built trans and converter from outlaw trans that was a month old , i payed to have it shipped both ways to and back , now i recieved a new trans and converter from them the other day , had a certified trans specialist with 25 years exp , he called me because he noticed dents in the valve body pan , he wanted me to see what was inside , i got there and black carbon with metal chunks and shavings , he said i should be concerned , i called outlaw trans and the manager not the owner said it had to be a shipping accident , upon looking at the crate , no markes or damage was found , now i drove the car home and got 6.2 miles exactly and there was a shutter then a snap and i had to have the car towed , no gears and when its in gear it sounds like rubbing the car wont move something broke biggg time !!!! im crushed , i have a new baby on the way and for me to even be able too keep this car is amazing , i am working 7 days a week 10 hours a day to keep my family having a decent life and the extra money i saved to get this trans , then it breaking and having to pay to ship it both ways and pay to have a shop take it out and install the new one , only to flat out break 6.2 miles down the road , no hard driving just babying it until it got some miles on it ,,, im crushed and literally hurt , , so i documented the valve body before it went int he car with pictures and the trans guy said hed stand behind me , what do i do ? i dont even want another trans from them , i dont have the cash to have this one taken out and a new one reinstalled let alone the cost of a new trans , i just want my money back every penny , am i wrong ? im trying to be descent but i want my money back to have someone else build me a trans but what is the chance of that ? i mean this is flat out wrong ? can i get some input back , im a hard working good guy trying to keep my dream only to have been put in this situation What would you guys at performabuild and the other sponsers do for a customer if this happened to them with your product , i know everyone says it wouldnt but if it did would you be willing to take a hit to keep a customer that proudly flies your banner on his car at the and has friends that own zl1 camaros and hot rod edition camaros and goes to all the shows and cruises with them and talks to everyone including the gm big wigs , i throw what i run proudly and and reccomend to everyone i know or at shows to go with this or that company and i dont want to say these guys are bad guys but what gives , i guess we will see when i get outlaw trans on the phone tomorow and see what happens i just hope they make it right , actually i want them to pay for a new trans or give me my money back and one of the shipping costs so i can save a little more and possibly get one from one of our other sponsers ,, i need feedback from sponsers on this but anyone is welcome thanks

i feel your pain man, good luck with that..... but you should have gone with one of the sponsors here on LS1tech because no matter what happens they will take care of you. read some of the threads in this auto section and you'll find some good info.

yeah thats a shitty situation, most places won't give you your money back they'll simply replace the transmission. good luck trying though. once they send you a new transmission you could try selling it and putting that money towards a transmission you want. i'm going through a similiar situation right now so i feel your pain.

I totally agree that this sucks.
But I have to be sensible and ask: if you're so tight on money, why are you paying someone to do something as simple as remove and replace your tranny? Money can't be too tight, unless you have a broken wrist or something that keeps you from installing it. And even then, who's gonna tune the tranny for ya?

might not have the tools or time to do it. its not so simple if you can't get the car lifted high enough.

All it takes is a jack and jackstands and a set of sockets. Wal-mart for $100 would cover it easily. Work on it 1-2hrs/day and you'd be done in 2 days easily.

Like I said, no big deal. It just doesn't add up to say, "I'm broke" when you're paying for someone to turn a wrench the same way you can. It's a great sob story, but times apparently aren't too hard.

Show some passion for this poor guy, anyone who buys a tranny and have it blow up and have to pay shipping both ways sucks....and working 7 days and 10 hours no time at all so only thing he can do is have a shop do it. Chuck maybe a couple local guys will help you pull it out and reinstall but you'll have to work out getting a new one or replacement...Sorry for the loss man.

i went threw the samething with a non-sponser. Had the trans built and put 50 miles on it. Went threw 3 of them before i was able to get my money back finially and get a real trans. It was hell thats all there is to it. I didnt have the time to do it myself or i would have replaced it and installed the new one. Some people dont understand that when you work 2 jobs and have no time to spend working on the car you just cant do it yourself. Mine was my DD and i just wanted it back. Ended up having to share cars with family and doing twice the driving all over town to make sure that someone had a ride home, or to work. It just makes things a huge mess. In my opinon i would fight it if you paid with credit card, and send them a bill for all the shipping, and on top of that report them to the BBB if they dont make this right

did you take pictures of it? I hope so there fore you have evidence on what was sent back to you. Ram it up their *** that's bs spending good money on a kick *** trans and then them sending you back ****. luckily I've never had to go through that but then again I'm still on a stock trans but when my trans does go I'm going to do it locally.

2 jobs? That's not relevant since he said ONE job for only 10hrs/day.

But I do agree that it sucks and he should seek action.

Sorry to see you go through this. Unfortunately we see this scenario play out time and time again. Simple fact is you get what you pay for. It sucks, I know... but if you want a bad *** transmission it is going to cost some money.

Now, as far as the OP's issue. You have spent money with a shop. If they have any integrity they will work with you. I will doubt very seriously that they will offer to give you your money back. The best you can hope for at this point is to install another transmission that they will send you. DO not be beligerant, do not be rude. Handle this like any other business deal and see where it goes.

Good Luck.

Yes work with them and hopefully they will make it right and next time go through a sponsor on this site does not matter which one because all will do you right. It will cost a little more but I imagine cheaper in the long run. I know moneys a little tight now days but i am seeing more and more people going with non sponsors and ending up in this vote and getting calls from them for help solve issues, which I do not mind but us sponsors are hear for you every day. So please consider that when trying to save a few bucks.

good luck on getting anything from these guys.i went on thier website and listened to this guys sales pitch and it reminded me of being at the fair, you spend ten dollars for a 50 cent prize.i own a transmission shop and definetly know you can get a good trans without having to buy it from a sponsor.as for the thread if you paid with a credit card he,s refering to doing a chargeback it doesnt work if you are 100 miles from outlaw transmission save your time.

to the guy who said if money is so tight why did i have someone replace it , have you tried taking a trans out of a camaro or any f body? with out a lift ? it can be done but good luck and i work 10 hours a day seven days a week , no to be too hard on ya but its a huge jobe unless you have a lift 100 bucks for a socket set well what about that long *** extention to reach the top bolts then how are you gonna lift the trans back up to the car , yes i have tools but i dont have everything , and yes it is very costly , i work allot of hours to give my family a nice place to live and and a nice life my car should come last , i have a 2 year old and one on the way do you know how expensive that is ? or how much it cost in doctor bills to have a baby , i payed a guy 250 bucks to take my trans out and put the new in thats cheap and i had to put aside money to do that , let me say this clearly I HAVE ONE JOB I WORK 10 HOURS A DAY SEVEN DAYS A WEEK AND HAVE A PRGNANT WIFE AND A 2 YEAR OLD , I DONT EVEN HAVE TIME FOR MY SELF , sorry didnt know i was in a court of law , no hard feelings i hope EVERY ONE HAS AN OPINION AND I ASKED TO HEAR THEM THATS WHY YOU GOTTA LOVE THE USA
