Default 99 z28 swap to ls2 ???

bought a 99 z that has a blown motor and the chance to get a good deal on a ls2 from a gto complete. question, how hard is this swap? also will the 4l65e out the gto work? amy help apreciated, is it worth it or just go with another ls1?

not a hundred percet positive but I think that the cars have different computers. If anything that's your biggest worry big whoop. If you can get a deal on the ls2 go for it people put lq-9 blocks out of trucks in there camaros, you'll do fine put your headers on the motor before you install so you don't have to do it later. I'm sure someone else will kick in.

The swap will be a bolt in mechanically. As C5Z28 said, the two engines use different PCMs and the LS2 will not run with a LS1 PCM. Basically you will have to graft the two harnesses together. Not real hard but definately not a job for a beginner.

The GTO trans will not work because there is no provision for the torque arm mount.

you have to tap the knock sensors a little larger on the ls2, also you can use the stock computer and ECU, you just have to switch out the reluctor wheels.

actually if its from an GTO you may not need to switch out the wheels

Should be able to run the harness and PCM that came with the Z28. You will need to reprogram the PCM however for the larger displacement and other differences.
