| Want to buld Single digit NA car, possible? I am looking at using the LSX 454 shortblock, and a solid roller cam. Not sure what heads, converter and so on. I want to be able to take it on the street for the OCCASIONAL cruise maybe 1 or 2 times a month, but its going to be mostly a track vehicle. Its a 2001 S-10. I also plan to tub it to get the traction that I will need. Anyone see this being possible?

| Of course it's possible. It's gonna take a lot of money and a little bit of homework. The biggest issue will be to keep it streetable. I guess if you are just gonna drive it down the road a couple of times a month then a huge solid roller and a 5500 stall won't be too bad.
Just take your time, do plenty of research, and don't skimp on the big shit. It's well worth the money to do things right the first time rather than have to pull shit apart all the time and spend all that extra money.
Good luck and make sure to post up some progress pics when you get started.

| Well as far as heads what can you suggest? The only two I have found at the moment are LS7 265 or 280cc from TSP

| I haven't done much homework on HKE stuff, I'm sure others could chime in though.
I do know that Billy Briggs has a great reputation for building killer engines. As far as heads go, search around on here and see what is working for others. Just be careful who you listen to, there are a lot of dumb asses that think they know what's going on but really don't have a clue.
If you are really serious I would recommend calling or E-mailing Billy Briggs and tell him your goals and your budget and let him do his thing. The man has built some of the fastest LSX's in the world. You can't go wrong with him.

| It was on purpose....that was the first and last time that I do that. I loosened the front up ALL the way and raised the 2 step to 2800 vs. 2500.
that wheelstand was a 1.44 60' with the backs. When she's tight and carries them right to the 60' it will hit 1.29's and run anywhere from 9.94 to 9.99. |

| the car has always left very straight and had several 100' wheelstands under its belt before I let it all hang out. Like I said before, glad I did it, and all went well.....but I won't do it again.
...atleast on purpose. |

Anyone see this being possible? | The Xtreme Horsepower shop car has been 9.60 @139 on NA 93 octane pump gas with a 427 and ported LS7 heads. This is a 3000 lb car (90 Camaro) with a TH400 and yes it could be driven on the street. You can certainly get it done with a LSX build with the right combination of compression, heads, cam and intake.
PM or call if you need help
Good luck with the project!!!!!!!!!! |
