You are right but the stock gear set is only good to about 450-500hp, after that your looking at a weak link. Im a firm believer in driving it til it breaks but I hate changing trannys and having my racecar down. BTW I broke a stripped 3 gears and bent my shift rail and I never got traction, but i did yank the shit out of the gears

I think its my thread and if i want to joke or be a smart ass I can. Try to lighten up. Both of my projects are going to get running and then parked. I have been unemployed since november. So after I get them mobile. I will be joining the military then I can afford to put a good rear and a viper trans in it. Unless of course you want to buy the items for me. Then I would be internally greatful

But since I have built a few cars that exceeded the input rating of these trans by 2 and 3 times the amount and they are still together to this day. I think I can decide on what I want to do with my project.

This car made 734 horse at the wheels with a stock trans and clutch.

Oh then he drove it home to arkansas after I finished with it.

This car made 400 horse and 460 torque at the wheels. With a stock 1965 3 speed saginaw. And it was my daily driver til i sold it.

OH and I almost forgot my other project.

This was a 4.3 5 speed truck. I took out the v6 and put in a 454 with aluminum heads. And that was my daily driver til recently. But since I am upgrading it to an 8.1

Depends on the life of the trans as i said. My buddies car has a 427ci LSx that makes way more power than you in a heavier car and it still shifts like new. 3rd gear is common to bust and the shift rail bends on folks who usually are hitting gears correctly.

I dont need examples of cars who lasted with weak parts, I have a friend who puts 900hp through a stock rear with slicks and has been doing it for years. Things like that happen and sometimes shit lasts but the more shit i break the more i realize that doing things right the first time is always the best idea.

That car in the first vid has a Viper tranny, they arent the same by any means. The difference between a Viper T-56 and a LT1 T-56 is drastic, the viper one will hold about 500 more hp.

I am tempted to make a LT1 style intake for the big block then I wont have to modify the cowl.

Well, swapped the rear ends. since my car is one of them weird ones that had a six speed and a 3.23 rearend. So now it has a 3.42. And since I have 2 cars with stock exhaust. I am going to do some cutting and pasting and use both systems on my big block. So home made true duals out the back

lol, when I was buying the intake off ebay I had no idea it was from a member here. how cool.

thanks for packing that thing right and shipping it same day

this is gonna be sick. a camaro with a fuel injected 454 is too cool.

are you planning to use any kind of forced induction??? I had to put my twin turbo build on hold to convert my jalopy to fuel injection. funny thing is I was planning to run about 1000hp through my mildly built th350. I just planned to put crappy tires in the rear so it would spin instead of breaking cos I dont think a th350 would hold 1000hp if the car hooks.

I'll be watching this build closely. good luck
